Here is someone's CPC vs Spectrum games comparison and also nice set of best homebrew titles.
I played that #1 Orion Prime p&c adventure, an amazing quality game.

Re: Why did you NOT upgrade to a CPC in the 80s?
A lot of valid arguments have already been given, here are some of my toughts. I agree, that one of the main reasons for not buying a CPC machine during the 80s was the late appearance on the market and also the price. Spectrum and C64 firmly held their positions and had a large user base, and soon ...

My first thought was Underwurlde, but it seems not.
Can't associate ropes and aliens in any other game, right now.

Re: Metal Exile (Formally Hypercore)
Not directly/easily but converting it should be possible. I'm designing it to use Spectrum colour restrictions and will be using Spectrum music, but I'll probably use more particles and sprites on screen than real hardware could handle, but those are just effects mostly and could be removed from a ...

Re: Guess the game from the review (Spectrum 2.0)
I've never read any review but I'll throw something in. Sam Stoat Safebreaker? No, this is a classic platformer, let's say similar to the Gotcha which was mentioned before, but this is a well-known game, highly rated here on SC. Also, this isn't some modern homebrew title, I'm only considering game...

Re: Android tv box as a ZX Spectrum machine
This post is mostly to gather some information and kearn the opinions of experienced users. In theory a frontend and a good emulator in a android TV box could work like a spectrum (with external keyboard). Most boxes have the power to handle emulation. You had to make the frontend with the game lis...

Re: Guess the game from the review (Spectrum 2.0)
No, its not Gotcha.
It's also arcade platformer, but much more advanced, with top graphics and super smooth animation.
Each level is a static screen, which needs to be cleared to move on to the next one.
One of the best Spectrum budget games, for sure.

Re: Guess the game from the review (Spectrum 2.0)
The only game that drove me crazy because of its insane difficulty was Navy Moves, and this description somewhat reminds me of it.

Re: PROJECT : A TRS80 MC10 emulator on the ZX Spectrum
So far I have restarted coding 3x. I have now coded all routines to emulate each opcode. Next step is to check if all opcodes are done properly. After that I can code the emulator mainprogram. It looks promising. I like TRS-80 for several reasons, it was the first available home computer in my coun...

Re: New release of SpecEmu
Btw, Pac-man is still there for me in the Tools menu in the latest version. No idea what might've changed for anyone else. Well, not for me. All four Midway roms are in the appropriate /pacman/roms folder, but this option still doesnt appear in the Tools menu. I'm using windows 7, but I doubt that'...

Far from being one of my fave publishers. Some fine gems, like Bruce Lee, Gauntlet trilogy, Killed Until Dead, Leader Board, Mad Mix (original from Topo Soft), Raid Over Moscow or Solomon's Key, but loads of turkeys... My thoughts exactly. For some reason, I've never been able to get seriously hook...

Re: Most prolific games publishers?
I think I tracked down at one point the exact game that John... ahem, borrowed... those chess pieces from for that loading screen for both The Infiltrator and the earlier game in the series, The Pawns of War. (Edit: It's Cyrus II, isn't it, I think? https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/1213/ZX-Spe...

Re: Most prolific games publishers?
I remember their adventure Infiltrator, because of the loading screen with an excellent 3D chess set. It looks even better than the one from Psi Chess and is almost identical to Fig Chess, except the pieces are inverted and colored in a yellow/black instead b/w combination. I still think, that the F...

Re: How to get data off MGT +D disks
Spectaculator and RealSpec emulator, can read real +D floppies. Windows XP and the fdrawcmd driver are required, but actually it works on win 7 as well. Latest version of RealSpec has read/write support for several important Spectrum real disk formats (+D/MGT, TRD, Opus, Disciple, MB02+, etc) under ...
