Re: Sinclair Gebruiker magazine at Internet Archive

I do have a working tap version of Super Zeeslag that we typed in ourselves back in the day. It should be identical to the original listing. Will post it here soon so it can replace the current entry in the database.

Re: Sinclair Gebruiker magazine at Internet Archive

There are currently 2 playable files in this entry. Could you please take a look and check if there are any differences from the magazine version? We have a few possibilities here: a) If they are identical to the magazine, then I guess whoever submitted them was incorrectly credited as author. In t...

Re: Spot the font!

Several years ago I did an investigation into 8x8 pixel fonts on early 1980s computers. I found out that nearly all systems at that time had their own designs and therefore the ZX81/ZX Spectrum font is certainly quite unique. I’m curious to know who designed it. Perhaps Steven Vickers himself was re...

Re: Sinclair Gebruiker magazine at Internet Archive

Sinclair Gebruiker was certainly the most professional Spectrum magazine in Dutch. I still have those issues in my collection. Thank you Neil Parsons for preserving them. There are more than two type-ins in the SC archive BTW. I did find Super Zeeslag which has completely wrong credits and no refere...

Re: What does your alias mean?

It's my hi-score name. Many of the early arcade games only allowed three letter names in the hi-score table and usually had a short time limit to complete your entry. Often these games would take the previous letter you've entered as the starting point for the next letter. My original name starts wi...

Re: NEW THEME! for the Spectrum Computing Forums

First of all druellan I want to say that I appreciate the effort to make a custom theme. Because I know it is bloody hard and you will get a lot of negative feedback if you change something that people are so familiar with. I also appreciate that PeterJ is giving room to these kinds of initiatives. ...

Not for me -- thank you

As others have already mentioned, the contrast in the new theme is way too high for my liking. • The white background is too bright and strains my eyes. • The black/dark gray buttons and black borders are too heavy. They draw too much attention as a result. • I’m not against Open Sans as a typeface ...

1. ATV Simulator
2. Dizzy
3. Monte Carlo Casino

You can say what you want about the general mediocre quality of Codemaster’s games, but look at the artwork of many of those loading screens! Absolutely beautiful use of colour and gradients.

1. Bionic Commando
2. LED Storm

Both titles were developed by Software Creations with fantastic 128K music by Tim Follin.
(I have to admit that without the music LED Storm is a pretty average game though.)

Trantor: nice demo but not much of a game there.

Re: Next not coming until June 2023

I don’t mind the extra delay. It's annoying for sure but in light of all the other things in the world I don’t blame the Next team for anything.

The first KS also took way more time than antipicated but eventually they delivered. That is all that matters to me.

A lot of comments made so far are very similar to my experience. I got my Next about two years ago and I love how the case looks like, and how solid it feels when you hold it in your hands. Just the fact that it is Rick Dickinson’s swan song already makes this thing special to me. Therefore I’m stil...
