That would be great, Bob ;)
Maybe a password system for the cassette release would be also great, as I tried to beat the game and it was really hard!

Re: The Hobbit 128 unfinished?

If you have a point to make about the description of a YouTube video, please include or at least make mention of the description in your post, rather than link to an embedded video in which the description does not appear. Seriously? I am out of this discussion, I am not even going to play the game...

Re: The Hobbit 128 unfinished?

Is this a joke? The video you share does not even mention Kayamon. It shows the game only credited to WorldofSpectrum.org. Even if there is some YouTuber out there who gets it wrong, it seems quite unreasonable to blame Kayamon for it when he clearly credited only WorldofSpectrum.org, not himself. ...

Re: The Hobbit 128 unfinished?

That's not correct. He credited it to World of Spectrum, not himself. But why he appears to be the only author in the Spectrum Show video then? Also in another video appears: conversion by Kayamon and members of WoS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UrYAijTFPSw If this was a community effort, maybe ...

Kayamon credited only himself, when there were other people involved? Does not seem a very right thing to do :?

Re: Gryzor disk release?

Yep, both versions (Erbe, Hit Squad) 128K have the same changes compared to the original 128K release from Ocean. It's kind of funny Erbe may change code sometimes to try fixing issues. In the C64 Gryzor release from Erbe, most of the third level is missing and 2 sound effects are swapped which mak...

Re: Gryzor disk release?

From what we know, Erbe used to change the code for some releases, correcting possible issues. It is maybe possible that the Hit-Squad release is the same one as the Erbe one?

uMIA compilation

Eons ago :D I organised the compo Spanish coin-ops in your Spectrum. At the end of it, we released a cassette with Retroworks as publisher, where all the games that participated, 4, were included. Here more info about it: http://www.retroworks.es/php/blog.php?id=205 Only 25 tapes were created and so...

The author of the game Senku, published in Microhobby, is not from Spain, but Uruguay:

Re: Gryzor disk release?

North And South is, and has always been, compatible with the +2A+3. The +3 disk version actually contains more features: a custom font and the train chase scene. On the other hand, Frank Bruno's Boxing was not. There is even a cure for it on my website. Scooby Doo is actually compatible with the +2...

Re: The best Speccy game by Bob Smith: discussion

This is going to be a tough one, because Bob has really good games, one of the best authors of the Homebrew era. We are missing your games, Bob! Come back soon! Re: Gryzor disk release?

There isn't such a thing as "a +3" though. There are early ones with Z70830 boards, ones with Z70833 boards like the +2A. In 1989, New Computer Express refers to version 4.0 and 4.1 +3's that still have the sound bug, so presumably there are also versions 1, 2 and 3 before that. Does Spec...

Re: Gryzor disk release?

Yes. I don’t mean to sound rude but we could also read. The 128k version loaded fine on my grey +2 but I remember it not working on my friends +3. A different friend later bought the budget version and that worked on his +2A. I’m guessing that the initial release was withdrawn quickly. Then, I am m...

No, there were 2 versions of the game, I don´t mean loading the game on 48 or 128K. On the original release, the A side had the 48k version of the game. The B side has the 128K version.

Re: Gryzor disk release?

The very first release didn’t work with the +3. I had the tape version for my grey +2, it wouldn’t load on my mates +3. Or it crashed pretty early on. Pretty sure that Renegade had a similar issue in that the in game music wouldn’t play. That is probably because you were trying to load the 48K vers...

Re: Gryzor disk release?

Unless you have the exact machines, in the exact setup that Ocean were using at the time then you can't assert any such thing. Do you have another explanation for sticking "incompatible with the Spectrum +3" labels on thousands of copies of Gryzor, and not Match Day II, Tai Pan or Combat ...

StooB wrote: Wed Feb 15, 2023 2:04 pm They didn't say it wasn't. They said it wasn't compatible with the just-released +3's that they had access to in mid-1987.
Again, if the game is compatible with the +2A, then it is compatible too with the +3.
