Re: Any chance of identifying the game used in this clip?
Ha! I completely forgot I created a topic about that routine on Speccy.org 14 years ago  I also forgot it loads the code as characters, not screen data... 10 ORG 40000 20 DI 30 LD HL,#53F 40 PUSH HL 50 LD DE,#4000 60 LBYTE LD A,#7F 70 IN A,(#FE) 80 RRA 90 RET NC 100 NBYTE LD L,1 110 LD BC,#...

A Spectrum appears in Netflix once again
Horror movies are not my cup of tea, but it's always nice to hear the familiar loading noise and see the Sinclair font. Screenshots taken from the trailer of "Choose or Die" on YouTube. Definitely reminds us of the old text adventures. https://i.postimg.cc/4KFYLKxy/Netflix-Choose-Or-Die-Sp...

Re: Any chance of identifying the game used in this clip?
I'm going to get the uncompressed audio but everything else that was mentioned here is beyond my capabilities. Should have the audio ready in a few days. Many years ago the Spanish Microhobby magazine provided a utility that could read Spectrum tape data from any part of the code block, no need to r...

Any chance of identifying the game used in this clip?
When the movie Scott Pilgrim vs The World was released years ago, I immediately recognized the loading noise used in the two coffee shop scenes. We also know the director, Edgar Wright, is a Spectrum fan. Back in 2010 I asked WOS members for help identifying the loading screen that was used in the m...

There's a video of it on YouTube. Maybe the uploader has preserved it?

Although I don't know the answer to the question, just wanted to say thank you for this. Laser Squad is my favorite Spectrum game.

Re: Can AY be played at the same time as samples?
(..)You could also play a sample on one AY channel and music on remaining channels. Gasman did this in one of his demos. He proved the AY could play digitised speech and traditional AY chip music at the same time. The speech was hard to understand, but he proved it could be done. I'm surprised no o...

Re: Did you know about colour clash when you got your Speccy?
Have you ever seen those gradients on a black and white TV? :) I used to have a b/w TV for my Speccy for about 3 years. But come on, how many artists these days create Speccy gfx for b/w? I'd say close to zero ... Oh, I wasn't claiming artist do that, just adding that if you open those color gradie...

Re: Did you know about colour clash when you got your Speccy?
Sorry for the long post... I didn't know about the colour clash but it had nothing to do with getting my Speccy. The only way to explain how I discovered it is with a bit of history. Back in 1987 I knew computers existed but that was about it. I had no idea how many computer manufacturers were out t...

Re: Microhobby Cassette #9 (Nov '85)
Growing up reading Microhobby, I remember the fascination with this magazine, the articles, the pictures, even the things I couldn't make happen (such as the hardware projects and the POKEs). These simple games, and other games and programs from type-ins, they were all fascinating to me. I never car...

Re: Question about Spectrum colours
On a TV screen, pure white is created by mixing the primary colors approximately in the following proportion: Red: 30% Green: 59% Blue: 11% Thank you. As a kid I was taught that black was the absence of colour and white was the combination of all colours, but never thought of looking up RGB or CMYK...

Robocop and Chase HQ are the first ones that come to mind.
There's also an older demo by Gasman where he mixes speech with chiptune music, and a newer demo that uses digitised samples for music and speech. Atari-something...
