Re: Where any NES games ever ported to the Speccy 'Officially' ?

Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles was ported from the NES to various home computers, including the Spectrum . Can't think of any other ports that originated on the NES. Looking at the NES maps ( http://www.thealmightyguru.com/Wiki/index.php?title=Teenage_Mutant_Ninja_Turtles_(video_game) ) they look dife...

Re: "Use your spectrum to explore the fantastic world of 3D television"

Do try green. It filters as good as red so you get ghost free images. And it's about the same density as red, so both images will be equally bright. Trust me on this, red/green works much better. Keep using Cyan on the Spectrum because it works with both sets of glasses. There's no gain in using gre...

Re: "Use your spectrum to explore the fantastic world of 3D television"

I found this topic since I am learning and testing anaglyphs in a BASIC game. The games above mentioned I am afraid that do not work so well (my craft glasses work with some YT anaglyp vids, but not with those games). You have two problems. One is the quality of the colour lenses. Red cellophane is...

Re: RGB---> SCART Composite?

I remember that some TVs supported RGB and S-Video over scart.
You needed to press a button on the set (or a button combination) to setup de desired mode.
Also, if the TV has two scarts, usually only one is RGB.

Re: Dune II

I second Alessandro's opinion about poor gameplay and poor graphics. For example, there's no easy way to drag the play area around, you need to click around the edges. And the play area is too zoomed in, a smaller scale would have been better for the Spectrum. The units are hard t...

Re: New Game: Mahjong Solitaire

Much better now! :D :D It's a really good game! My only suggestion is to have some mention to keyboard shortcuts visible during gameplay. I had to return to the forum to see that X showed blocked tiles. No need for a full explanation, just something like "QAOP SP Z R" at the bottom right o...

zxcygnus Yes a contrast option would be great!
Green background is not a big problem, as long as the tiles use different colours. This would work well for me:

Re: New Game: Mahjong Solitaire

Great work, really enjoyed it ;) I like that the tiles are nicely drawn and in color. Interface is simple and responsive enough. My only problem is with the green colour on pieces. Green is really problematic on the Spectrum. It's too light so it won't contrast well with white. Also the Green backgr...

Retro Image Converter

Friends, I just released my first native Android App! It converts any image (from camera or gallery) to specific hardware palettes. Conversion is based on colour distance taking into account perceived brightness. The results are good I think :D ! I'm not simulating specific resolutions because my fi...

Re: ZXDB Update - 21/Jun/2021

Thanks Einar, makes sense. It's a two step process, like adding images for new titles using the preservation tools - those also require two updates.
No problem and no rush!

[New files] 0003316-run-1.scr (Running screen) 0003807-run-1.scr (Running screen) 0005671-run-1.scr (Running screen) These should have replaced the old GIFs as the main in-game images. A good example is Pole Position , where the GIF has tearing. But they were simply added as extra images. Perhaps w...

Re: Just a quick mock-up of Falcon ZX screen

I have some doubts about the vertical dither pattern used for the ground plane. Doesn't look that good because it covers most of the play area.
Most titles did the sky and ground as solid colours, and used patterns for smaller objects like the runway.

But I like the mockup a lot! Great work! ;)
