Re: Skyrim 48k/128k

How about a version like the brilliant Forest of Long Shadows, which was a type-in in Sinclair User:

Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with M: vote

Well, that wasn't quite as easy as I thought it was going to be. As expected I've gone for MM as it's not just a Speccy classic, but, and all time classic. Other contenders for me were Moon Alert as that was one of the first game I had for me beloved Speccy, and Marauder as that was also a great/cla...

Now that, is brilliant :D :D ELO, as well as Fleetwood Mac, Jethro Tull, Motorhead and The Beatles were a massive part of my childhood as they were always being played in the house or in the car. So anything Beep-tastic stuff by any of them will always get Freetime Thumbs Up from me :D For those tha...

Re: Your top 5 arcade games

I only ever played Phoenix. When we used to go on holiday to Tenby in the early 80's there was a pub that had a games room at the back next to the beer garden and that only had Phoenix, a pool table, a cigarette vending machine (obviously. Where else could I get the kids get their fags from :-) ) a...

Re: Your top 5 arcade games

I'm showing may age now: 1 - Sprint (Black and White) with 2 steering wheels. They had it in the arcade (or 'the machines' as we called it as kids) in Saundersfoot. When you finished you got a rating and the first time I played I was classed as 'A rioting Granny', much to my Dad's amusement. 2 - Ori...

Stands a good chance that MM is going to win, but, it'll still be interesting to see what other games get voted for.

Midnight Resistance is a great game and Marauder is up there with one of my all time favourite game. But, in all honesty they are not 'classics'.

Yeah, I persuaded my parents that joining that club would be a great idea. All I remember was that each month I struggled to find a good game to point where one month I ended up picking William Wobbler!!!! Most of the time I’d end up with the Editors Choice which, surprise surprise , was the most ex...

Re: The games that had an impact on you

For Speccy Games: 3D Luna Crabs Yep, it sounds like an odd selection, but, there's a very good reason. Before we had a Speccy at home we had a Dragon 32 for about 12 months. The graphics on the Dragon were pretty low-res and very blocky. Some of the games were very good such as the Donkey Kong clone...

Re: Change keys in Uridium?

Looks like you have to start the game, then go into Options, change the keyboard/joystick mapping, press OK and then jump back into the action.

It would appear that even after changing the keys to QAOP I'm still utter crap at it

Re: Every cover of Crash, in one image...

Oli Frey probably had to reign it in a bit as the namby pampy pc brigagde started dictating what was good/bad for us in the late 80s early 90s. Compare the images for the Friday 13th or Barbarian covers to some of the later ones. I remember that the last issue of Crash that I has was the one with LE...

Change keys in Uridium?

Is it possible to change the keys in Uridium? I can see that this is brilliant shmup, but, I just can't play it with the awful default keys and why would anybody think that having Enter as the fire key was a good idea?!!!

Went for Lightforce in the end.

I'd always wanted to get 'in to' LoM, but, never could. Maybe it was because, as an 11 year old kid, if my attention wasn't grabbed by a game on the first screen, then it was clearly crap

Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with L: discussion

Yeah, Luna Crabs was an early title for me too. Basically 3D Tank but with crabs as i recall. And more fun. And you're a fellow Dragon owner. We had a Dragon 32 at home too. Dad brought it home one day, i'd have been about 12. Probably around 1983 like you. There was a nice pool game on the Dragon,...

Luna Crabs Wow Luna Crabs!!!! I forgot about that little gem. It was the first game that I bought when we our little rubber-keyed beauty back in '84!! We'd had a Dragon 32 in 83 but after several tech issue we went back to Boots (yes, you could get a computer from a Chemists back in the 80s :) ) go...

Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with L: discussion

I realise that Lords of Midnight is probably going to win this one hands down, but, for me its a toss-up between Light Force or Lord of the Rings. Light Force was just such a leap in graphics for a shmup and LotR, though painfully slow, was a great adventure.

Re: GAC on 128+2 (not 2a)

Had it working lots of times on my grey Spectrum +2, fairly sure you had to load from 48K mode. It was from the 48K era, so I doubt it ever made use of the 128K ram. The temperamental thing was Incentive's speed loader, which must have been the most fastest (and therefore most prone to failure) out...

Yep, Graphic Adventure Creator. The odd thing is that the +2 and GAC Cassette I have now are not the ones I had back in the 80's and they don't work either!

GAC on 128+2 (not 2a)

Hi All, Has anybody managed to get GAC running on a Speccy 128 +2 grey? I remember back in the day when I got a +2 that I could never get GAC to load in either 128 or 48k mode and when I tried again the other day it still fails to load. If it was able to load into 128 mode would it make use of the e...

City of Thieves looks excellent. It also helps that this is also my favourite FF book of all time. I got it from Safeway supermarket in Kingswinford on our monthly shop back in 1983.

As stated in the K Discussion thread previously, I've voted for Kokotoni Wilf. Pretty sure my vote will be for Kokotoni Wilf. It was a game that my Grandma bought me for Christmas one year without even asking what I wanted. When I got the present I was hoping for the latest blockbuster, but, when I unwrapped it I had to do the usual 'Oh wow this is exactly what I wanted' impre...

This was actually tougher than I thought. My first thought was to go for Jetpac as it was one of the first games I ever played on a Speccy, but, then there was also Jumping Jack as that was one of the first games I bought when I finally got a speccy. But, then I remembered how I felt when I first he...
