Re: Cover Artists 2

1351|Derby Day https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/1351/ZX-Spectrum/Derby_Day This has no credits in SC/ZXDB. Per the Spectrum instructions the game is by P Curtis. Per Mobygames this is Peter G Curtis. However, Mobygames only credits the C64 version to him. I think this is an error, as the Spectr...

Re: Cover Artists 2

I'm not sure we can follow Mobygames' credit for Annals of Rome. The inlay in the archive does not have a signature, and is different from the later Amiga/DOS version, which is signed by Roger Pearse. It is possible that the Spectrum inlay is also by Roger Pearse, but I don't think we can be sure. T...

I could have just looked at Mobygames and avoided all that sleuthing! So per Mobygames Roger Pearse did the covers of: Annals of Rome Bismarck Tobruk: The Clash of Armour Battle for Midway Les Flics Pool Based on the signature we can also add: Battle of Britain Swords & Sorcery All by PSS ...

Panic (PSS) also has a signature, which looks like it could be the same artist's, but again the scan isn't clear. Swords & Sorcery (PSS) does have the same signature. The scan is clear, but the surname is covered by a logo. The Panic signature looks like it might be "...Pearse 89", bu...

Some of the PSS wargames series covers (Battle for Midway, Battle of Britain, Bismarck, Tobruk) are painted and signed by an artist whose name might be Roger Pearse. Unfortunately the signatures are not very clear in the available scans: https://i.postimg.cc/d0Xjw7Mm/Screenshot-20200726-175738-01.j...

Some versions of it do. Melbourne House reissued it (in 1984, I think) with Kempston compatibility. If I recall correctly, it doesn't require you to select a Kempston option.

Re: Cover artists

The Empire Strikes Back There is a signature in the bottom right. It is hard to read, but might be Josh Hayes, or perhaps Jim Hayes. BTW this is the signature: https://i.postimg.cc/qMCkd1SN/Screenshot-20200726-104210-01.jpg It might be something like B. H. Hayes, but is still difficult to make out.

Re: Early Ultimate Play the Game interview

think @lfaria's Gyruss guess looks right. In fact, this could be confirmation of sorts that ACG was definitely behind Gyruss. Then again, maybe not. Does Gyruss have eight-way movement? Incidentally someone else suggested a Gyruss connection in this blog by Rev_Stuart_Campbell: h...

What's the game in the storyboards shown in the article? Yes I thought that too! It mentions controlling a flying saucer with an 8-way joystick control with what looks like a sort of Tempest style screen. An unreleased Ultimate game has been discovered???!! I think lfaria's Gyrus...
