Re: BBC micro differences and similarities

this is the article i pulled the idea from:http://www.cracked.com/blog/revisiting-old-school-text-adventures-as-a-jaded-modern-gamer/ granted it's a lot shorter than this one (and the author really needs to add a hotkey for reset and allow a way to save to .tap or disc) Moderation Action (PJ): I hav...

BBC micro differences and similarities

How does the BBC micro differ from the zx spectrum in terms of graphics, sound and control? also, what do they share? is there anything that makes the BBC micro stand out? (for some reason, coding in assembly for the micro is harder than on zxspin) by the way, the left and right bracket keys have be...

Re: the hobbit 16k

will the other members be able to run the game in snapshot form? It’s your call, but I strongly recommend to not distribute games as snapshots. Snapshots contain machine model and other configuration information, including attached peripherals, which will disrupt a user’s settings. Just create a re...

Re: the hobbit 16k

You could try giving this book a read. It's written for the 48K Spectrum, but with some trimming you could probably get something that fits on the 16K. The location descriptions would likely take up the most memory, so halving the lengths of those would help. Additionally, while the book READs the ...

Re: the hobbit 16k

As it is it's more sophisticated than half the csscgc entries, so just submit it! Shaun is waiting for text adventures! Agreed - just hand that bad boy in. Should also add - you don't want to write a game so good it wins CSSCGC  will the other members be able to run the game in snapshot form?

the hobbit 16k

before you flame me, just to be clear, I cannot replicate the sheer awesomeness of the original. this is a drastically cut down version tailored to fit on the 16k spectrum. hopefully, the screenshot alone gives enough info. in order to conserve space, i removed quite a few locations and jettisoned t...

Re: Easier graphics on zx spectrum

Do you want to create vector graphics (as you mentioned plot and draw) or pixel graphics? Nowadays most people doing actual graphics for games etc. don't draw it on real Spectrum or in Spectrum emulator. They do with PC tools and then convert to desired Spectrum format. i believe in the old ways of...

Easier graphics on zx spectrum

now, I know the plot and draw commands are sufficient, but as i am using a laptop and thus, the crappy touchpad, I want to know if there are better ways to make graphics for the system, outside utilities, that let you drag and drop and stuff like that.
