Re: Little bugs in the database 3

The information on Software Farm's high-res ZX81 releases is inaccurate and incomplete: ROCKET MAN https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/index.php?cat=96&id=29249 FORTY-NINER This has two IDs with different publishers and other information differences: https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/index.php?cat=96...

Re: Classical music in Spectrum games and demos

I've consolidated the information in this thread and the old one on WoS in the lists below. I've included both classical and non-classical music in separate lists (except where a game has both). Might they be included in ZXDB? Both classical and non-classical seem worthy of inclusion to me. I've als...

Re: Little bugs in the database 3

Hi! Looking at the info @Rorthron uncovered about Players on the Covert Artists thread, I've found that usually Sonic Graffiti is credited for the music on the ZXDB, but they are mentioned on the instructions as "original music", and then usually Andy Severn ported the music to the Spectr...

Ah yes -- good call. (Though I personally didn't enjoy that game.)
She also co-wrote Penetrator (which it is obligatory to like ;) ).

Re: Homebrew authors vs Walkthroughs

Your comment restates the fallacy. The validity of your argument is not altered by whether you can find people who agree with you. Yes, but I'm not trying to create a rule that everyone has to follow in terms of stopping walkthroughs. It's not really a question of validity of argument, it's more a ...

Re: Homebrew authors vs Walkthroughs

I'm unsure how this is fallacious, so perhaps I have missed your point indeed. If the majority had said I was off my rocker, I would have just accepted it. They didn't - almost all the authors I spoke to felt the same. Your comment restates the fallacy. The validity of your argument is not altered ...

Re: Homebrew authors vs Walkthroughs

I'm clearly not seeking that, because as I said, there is no problem with in depth reviews where people play some of the game and give you a good idea of what it's like by actually talking about it. I am afraid you are seeking that. I generally do not like to watch or listen to reviews. I prefer to...

Re: Homebrew authors vs Walkthroughs

It's absolutely not about dictating how the games are enjoyed. Actually it is. For example, I enjoy watching walkthroughs and usually like to skim through one before deciding whether to play a game. You are seeking to prevent me doing that. And as you can see, many well respected authors totally ge...

Re: Homebrew authors vs Walkthroughs

Personally, I could scarcely disagree with this approach more. As far as I am concerned, if people think any of the games I have been involved with are worth spending their time on, they are free to enjoy the games however they like. If they want to record walktroughs, use rollbacks or whatever, the...

Re: Cover artists

The use of historic paintings on the inlays is certainty an interesting challenge. We were discussing this situation recently with Einar. We called it "The Mona Lisa dilemma", we picture the situation on where a game has The Mona Lisa as the cover art, and a graphic designer composed the ...

As Audionautas pointed out in the cover artists thread, the first Return to Eden cover looks like it was based on (or inspired by) an image of ROM the Spaceknight.
