Re: Why does CAPS LOCK break Bubble Bobble?
They will work if you load from 48K mode. However, this will obviously leave you without the AY music (which will please @equinox's dad at least). Again, the Musical 1 re-release will play AY music in the background. A TAP file of it will soon be added to the collection for the DivIDE, in the next ...

Re: How did your ZX Spectrum die?
In 1993, after nine years of honorable service, the voltage regulator failed and fried the RAM.
On a side note, all Spectrums in my collection were purchased on Ebay in the 2010s.

Re: Why does CAPS LOCK break Bubble Bobble?
The original Firebird release of Bubble Bobble won't work on the +2A/+3.
The Hit Squad re-release will, but without background music. The Musical 1 re-release runs with background music.
(See the +2A/+3 incompatibilities and corrections list in my signature)

Re: Did Sam Coupe had Zx Spectrum ROM?
My knowledge is very poor when it comes to Sam Coupe and I decided to improve it a bit today :) Sam Coupe could run Zx Spectrum games and other programs, right? So did it have a copy of Spectrum ROM? I guess that without ROM memory a lot of programs would crash. If so, how did they deal with copyri...

Re: Flying Shark mod fix needed
I gave it a try on the LMN128 and the Omni and it worked flawless without any snow. many thanks @Alessandro ! I played the game a lot over the years and without saying it definitely I had the impression that this version runs a tiny bit smoother than the original. Offloading the sound from to the s...

Re: TAP files for DivIDE/DivMMC
Versions with AY music and effects in the TAP collection are taken from "unofficial" fan-made mods (or better said, cracks), with such content taken from other versions (usually for the Amstrad CPC), as specified in their description. My policy is not to consider mods where original (i.e. ...

Re: Inside Outing (2021 fan update)
Agree, cracks and mods should be kept out of the archive. There's a whole lot of such files around if you know where to look for them.
I recently made TAP files out of two of them for my DivIDE/DivMMC TAP file project, but I would never add them to the archive myself, or ask them to be added.

Re: Flying Shark mod fix needed
Ahem  Let's get back to the topic... The TAP file will be added to the DivIDE/DivMMC collection in the next update. The already present TAP file of the original Firebird release will be kept for those who wish to play the game the traditional way on the 128 and later models. Of course, there w...

Re: Flying Shark mod fix needed
At last, I found the missing piece. Bob's suggestion of a POKE at address 43673 led me towards the correct path. The TAP file should now work on all Spectrums and play AY music and sound effects on the 128 and later models without "snow" on the 128/+2. Download link is unchanged (see first...

I never saw the "Italian" box. All 16/48K Spectrums I ever saw here came in the standard UK box.

bob_fossil : Yes, I loaded the snapshot on an emulated 128 with DivIDE on SpecEmu, and it happened as you wrote. The same snapshot ran without problems on a +2A. However, those addressess are not useful (i.e. there is no actual code there) when the TAP file ends loading and code is started at 24576...

Re: Caudillo
Good finding. I noticed this little-known and interesting title a long time ago.

No other light has been shed on it until now, though, so any more news/documentation etc. are welcome.

bob_fossil : I loaded the TAP under 128 emulation and placed a breakpoint at 24576, then tried substituting all the LD A, 17 instructions just before the bank switching ones with LD A, 20, but at the title screen, the program jumps somewhere around 62247 and finds nothing there, so the computer res...

Re: SpecEmu stopped working on my system
Well, it seems I found something. As soon as a file is opened, the emulator keeps writing its path and name in the specemu.ini file again and again, until it is not closed by force in the task manager. File0=E:\Spectrum\DivIDE\Fls.tap File1=E:\Spectrum\DivIDE\Fls.tap File2=E:\Spectrum\DivIDE\Fls.tap...

Re: SpecEmu stopped working on my system
I tried closing the program, reopening it, erasing it together with the INI file, putting it into a different directory, changing the priority in Task Manager, resetting the PC and trying again all of the above... nothing changed.

Re: Flying Shark mod fix needed
@Alessandro : Sorry for the side topic but I couldn't help noticing the original file is .trd and yet you were able to make a .tap file? Do you know how to do that conversion or did it work just this time? Put simply: You cannot convert a TRD file to a TAP per se. Even if the files on the disk imag...

Flying Shark mod fix needed
Another modification by goodboy , Slider and Tiboh, this time of Flying Shark. The mod adds sound effects and music from the Amstrad CPC version. Once again, when run on the 128/+2, it will show some nasty "snow effect" screen corruption, but only when game starts, not in the title screen,...

SpecEmu stopped working on my system
SpecEmu stopped working on my system today. I launch the emulator, open a file - tape image, snapshot etc. - and everything seems to work as normal. Then I reset the emulated computer. All of a sudden, and without any apparent reason, clicking on the menu items hangs the emulator, and I have to clos...
