Re: Cover artists
Thanks! I'm adding all this information to ZXDB. However I'm having trouble to identify the following titles: The Centurions: Power X Treme Centurions: Power Xtreme is an alternate name for The Centurions by Reaktor. Apparently it's what the TV show was called... maybe... if Wikipedia is correct. D...

Re: Cover artists
Kweepa seems to have covered pretty much all of them but I've got a couple more signatures: Zaxxan is Oli Frey - his signature has ZX Spectrum 48k slapped over the top of it on the inlay but is visible on the full page ad for the game Same again for Starstrike - his signature is visible on the botto...

Re: Cover artists
Jasper! is by Paul Cemmick https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Cemmick His signature is on the bottom left of the cover but isn't very clear. On the magazine ads they put text over the top of it but I eventually worked out what it was through some trial and error! Here's a clearer example of his sign...

Re: Cover artists
I can't speak for Kweepa (obviously!) but I think crediting the loading screen to Brian Bolland doesn't sound right. The cover artwork is by Mike McMahon and it could be argued that the loading screen is based on an image by Brian Bolland but that might be stretching it a bit. It's not an exact copy...

Re: Cover artists
I'd say the cover was Mike McMahon too. The credit on the instructions says "from an original design by Brian Bolland" but doesn't say he actually drew it. It doesn't look like his style and there's the fact that it is a perfect match for the cover of 2000AD Prog 148. Here's a larger versi...

Re: Converting .dsk to tap with dsk2tap
I think you probably converted it fine looking at your screenshots. Here's what I did anyway just in case it's any help... (1) Converted the Castlevania disk image to a tap file: dsk2tap newcastleENGLISH.dsk new.tap (pretty much what you did as far as I can tell) (2) Then in Spectaculator I created ...

Re: Cover artists
OK, how about another classic comic strip character from Melbourne House? The cover art for Asterix and the Magic Cauldron is by Albert Uderzo (who else?) :) Oh, and both Garfield games have Jim Davis' signature on the cover too (although a lot of his stuff is most likely done "in house" b...

Re: The Oliver Twins
That's really good news for the site and big respect to the twins for giving their permission to host the games here. I'm assuming that some of the titles are ones that they own the rights to rather than ones they actually programmed themselves (e.g. some of the Dizzy spin-offs/later titles etc)?

Re: Cover artists
Comic book artist Jackson Guice (also sometimes known as Jackson "Butch" Guise) did the cover for Skyfox. The original Electronic Arts release on other platforms apparently came with a mini comic and he's credited on there (as Butch Guise). http://www.mobygames.com/game/skyfox http://www.m...

Re: Game art copied from elsewhere
I had a quick look and couldn't find the exact source image that was used but I can't help but think that the cover artist for Kosmos may have relied just a tad on Marvel's "Rom: Spaceknight" comic for inspiration here. https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/pub/sinclair/games-inlays/k/Kosmos.jpg

Re: Cover artists
Definitely agree on the multiple roles being recorded separately. It's pretty common if you watch the credits on a movie to see people getting namechecked tons of times if they've worked on several areas during the production. I'm not sure if it's what you're suggesting but I think trying to categor...

Re: Cover artists
I may have skimmed this thread a bit quickly so apologies if I've misunderstood anything but I pretty much agree with Rorthron. The people who worked on the game should be in one group (programmers, graphics artists, sound/music, etc) and people who worked on the cover art or in any other capacity s...

Re: Sabre Wulf standard case inlay
Sorry, I edited my previous post whilst you were posting yours Juan. I don't think Ultimate would ever re-release their games in cheaper packaging. They only came out as re-releases when they'd sold out to US Gold and the quality thing I mentioned very much took a hit as well! Also, if they had rele...

Re: Sabre Wulf standard case inlay
I'd agree. I'd say that the one Neil has posted is 99.9% likely to be a fairly good looking fake but it's hard to tell how good the print quality is as the scans are a bit blurred. It'd be interesting to see the tape as I think that'd be the clincher. That "no.2 inlay" in the archive, howe...

Re: Search and Ye shall find
Ah, right. I think I'd seen the purple authors section before but forgot when doing a quick test search. I think the fact that you can click on other things towards the top - such as release year, publisher etc - where the author/s is/are mentioned (but aren't clickable) threw me off a bit. I'd stil...

Re: Search and Ye shall find
Is there any way of just displaying an author's name (or list of authors that match a search) and then being able to see everything they're attached to? Currently search results just seem to spew out software titles... unless I'm doing something wrong? It's not ideal if you don't search for an exact...

I get what you mean but shouldn't there be some consistency with how he's credited to games in the sense that his "proper" name is always first? Maybe I'm wrong but if I didn't know any better then when I skim through the list of games and artists it looks like Fantasy World Dizzy and Rock...

Sorry, Mark, but the "Lee pays for the server" thing isn't really a good argument and it certainly isn't an excuse for some of the unforgiveable things he's done recently. People have offered to pay for hosting but Lee wasn't interested. Besides which, it's hosted on the same server that h...
