Re: Cover Artists 2
Ring Wars A very small Steve Weston signature is hidden in a corner: Great find StooB I always liked that cover. Now I know why. Another Steve Weston masterpiece. Steve had a very busy 1987: Ranarama, Impossaball, Gunrunner, Zynaps, Exolon, Alleykat (C64), Nebulus, Eagles (C64), the original Magnet...

Re: The first 128K-only game(s)
No 8 in the Spanish Spectrum charts around June 88, ahead of Renegade and Predator, so it must have sold quite well: https://archive.org/details/micromania-segunda-epocha-02/page/n15/mode/2up . No, those Micromania charts are quite unreliable in my opinion. They were based on sales from El Corte In...

Re: The first 128K-only game(s)
The 48K version of Knight Tyme came out a few weeks after the 128K version, not over a year later. The first 128-only - as in not available for the 48K at all - games were They Call Me Trooper in December 1986, Little Computer People, Kingdom of Krell and The Pawn in 1987 and Bedlam, Football Direc...

Re: Rubinho Cucaracha
I do really hope that they'll continue making Spectrum games. If you check these Facebook Spectrum groups sometimes, then you probably saw some weeks ago their unfinished projects. They decided to show them to the world as their future became uncertain now. It was some really high quality stuff. It...

Hi
On the Back To Skool's story on the issue 234 of Retro Gamer magazine, Keith Warrington confirmed he was the cover artist for this Microsphere classic. I've added myself that info through the Preservation Tools.
Thank you!

Re: The Release Date Project
Hi everyone! This weekend I've been adding some release dates through the Preservations Tools (you can check the latest changes here https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/zxdb/add/public/history_publishers.php?typefilter=4), but one of them is worth mentioning and discussing here because it also implies a...

4). The Prayer of the Warrior . As you probably know, this was an unreleased game by Zigurat that was released by its authors in 2004 or so as a downloadable game. Several years later "1985 Alternativo" did a crowdfunding to release a proper version that I missed at the time. In the meant...

Re: Little bugs in the database 5
Thanks. To add more confusion, MAC is credited among Maniacs of Noise for de C64 music, so looks like it's the other way around, and Maniacs of Noise probably ported MAC's music. So, definitively they are not the same person. Hi druellan I've seen Mac is also credited for the Navy Moves' music on P...

Corn-Hunter (with Jean-Michel Jarre intro music "Popcorn"): https://i.postimg.cc/gwDZcn8H/Corn-Hunter.gif It's quite interesting to hear pseudo-multichannel music from an old Basic magazine type-in. By the way, Popcorn wasn't made by Jarre. Yes, "Pop Corn" is an original from 19...

Re: Angels
I think one the subtle problems is that (with the exception of Rika's flying kick) the attack doesn't happen until you release the fire button, which makes things feel less tactile & somewhat detached... I guess this is because of the "charged" attack, though I think I'd prefer if it ...

Re: Publishers of recent Spectrum software on physical media
Thank you, some of those publishers were completely unknow to me until now! I guess that's the price you have to pay if you do not want to have anything at all to do with fakebook... P.S. Hobby Retro does not sell recent games. But thank you anyway :) Yes, it does, but their website is a lit...

A similar question arose recently in a Spectrum group on Facebook. This was my list. * Bitmap Soft. https://www.bitmapsoft.co.uk/ * Phoenixware. https://www.phoenixware.co.uk/ * Polyplay. https://www.polyplay.xyz/Sinclair_1 * Cronosoft. https://cronosoft.fwscart.com/SPE.../cat5357733_4119462.aspx * ...

My main criticism is that the beat-em-up stages lack some good end of level bosses. Yep, that was my problem too. There are some kind of bosses but they are actually rather lame. Have a look at "Russian" level ending (click on video and it starts from the proper moment): Yes, exactly, rat...

Re: Angels
Hi IMHO is not fair comparing Angels to Renegade and Target Renegade. They are two different types of beat-em-ups. On Angels the main action displays on a single plane as on Kung Fu Master, Vigilante or similar games, while on Renegade/Double Dragon kind of games everything displays on a wide area, ...

Re: Crash Annual 2018
Hi My A4 Crash arrived last week and I'm reading it at the moment. Well, I'm not interested at all on the new Crash magazine since I prefer the book format, so it's all new content for me. I still disagree with several ratings, but at least this time I agree with the Crash Smashes. Anyway, for me th...

Re: The best Speccy game you've never heard of
It got absolutely moronic reviews in Crash and YS, and a decent one in Sinclair User, of all places. For some reason I think all mags had a (subconcious?) downer on budget games. With the odd exception, no matter how good the game, if it was budget it rarely got a glowing review. And if it did, the...

Re: Best place for info on all NEW things Speccy related
As someone who detests social media platforms, this forum is my only source of information. I've seen a few superb forums nearly die due to social media and the loss of so much knowledge and experience saddens me. Yep I'm with you there and the though of going back onto FB really does not appeal. I...

Re: Best place for info on all NEW things Speccy related
Hi I don't think there is only one place to be informed or get updated nowadays. Well, in my case (I'm not interested in hardware, only in Spectrum games) I try to be updated through several sources. 1). El Spectrumero Javi Ortiz is the most important Youtube channel related to Spectrum games in Spa...
