Re: Feud by Bulldog (Mastertronic)

Ahhh, an old favorite of mine. For just £ 1.99, or Lit. 5000 if you lived here, Feud provided you with a nice maze/collect title, which unfortunately became too easy when you understood that just by collecting every spell ingredient whilst avoiding Leanoric and Hieke, the gardener, and then hitting ...

Re: Joe Blade

I liked the first and third chapters of the series, very good value for money. The second chapter seemed rather boring to me however.

Re: Using DivIDE/MMC for new games

Judging from what I read from various sources, many of those who still use, even occasionally, real hardware own such interfaces. My games from Seto Taisho Vs Yokai on have been designed with the DivIDE/DivMMC in mind. First I emulated it through a CF card and SpecEmu, then a couple of years ago I p...

Re: I can't believe they attempted that.

I actually liked Death Wish III despite the movie being a complete waste of celluloid. Here is my review from Spectrum 2.0: Paul Kersey - a name which is synonymous with bad luck, judging by what happens to anyone who is closely associated to him - in the third instalment of its saga, has agreed to ...

Re: Best BASIC game

My favorites are Abyss, Ghost Town (from Virgin, first text adventure I ever played) and Fall Of Rome.

Speaking of more recent titles, Pandemia is also worth trying in my opinion.

Re: Best magazine covertape

For me, it was the covertape which came with the December 1988 issue of SU, with Finders Keepers, Spellbound and Knight Tyme. I loaded that tape so many times, it's a miracle it still works. Go Bear Go! was also quite nice, and the fact you could create your own levels with the supplied editor was a...

Re: Disappointing coin-op conversions

I once wrote an article for the Gamesark.it web magazine about the 15 worst and best coin-op conversions for the Spectrum. Even if you don't understand Italian, you will surely recognize the titles I mentioned ;) http://www.gamesark.it/mostra_speciale.asp?c=2210201120001778936&a=0&f=1&s=1

Re: The rise and fall of Sinclair User

I was a reader of SU from 1987, when I casually found it available in my home city in a newsagents that also sold foreign magazines. I enjoyed it thoroughly and still have quite fond memories of it, especially because Italian computer and videogames mags were dominated by C64 stuff at the time. Howe...

Re: Introduce yourself!

Hi everyone, I just found this forum and decided to join in!

I have been a proud Spectrum user since January 1984, wrote a 702-pages book about it, and every now and then produce some games to boot.

Cheers! :D
