Re: Games with multiple parts AND multiple genres

Blood Brothers has a 2D shooty platform stage, and a 3D spaceship racing stage.

The 3D one is pictured as the in-game screen in the archive, but I'm sure when I played it most of the game was in the colourful platform stage.

Re: Licenses vs originals during the ZX Spectrum's commercial era

Nice chart... Someone's been having a 'slow work day' ;)

Wow, just three original (as in 'non-license') games in the last 4 years of existence??

I knew they were TV/media-heavy years for some companies, but didn't realise it'd be that low.

Re: The best Speccy game by Palace Software: vote

Barbarian was one of my favourite beat-em-ups. I remember getting it later for the Amiga as well. One small criticism: the forward roll - especially when followed by a kick - is probably a bit OP. It takes a bit of practice to be able to counter an opponent just rolling backwards and forwards into y...

Re: The best Speccy game by Palace Software: vote

1. Barbarian 2. Cauldron II 3. Barbarian II Cauldron and Antiriad are high up in nostalgia value for me, but I'm not sure they've kept their appeal quite as much. The platforms in Cauldron are a bit unforgiving, and just navigating round the map in Antiriad (even with the armour) feels a bit cumbers...

Re: i cant get this piece of assembly to do what i want

If you've got your own graphics, it's a bit shorter as you don't need to faff around calculating the CHARS value. Try sticking the graphics in a DEFB at the end of the routine and then loading HL with the label, something like: org 40000 LD D, 1 ; Y position LD E, 15 ; X position CALL Print_Char ; P...

Ha - I remember those ads. 38p + VAT per minute, jeez...

"Chatter Box - The interactive message board. Say what you want to say - stir up a hornets' nest, start up a friendship! See the immediate response!"

Yep that pretty much sounds like social media and the internet to me... ;)

Re: Are amiga games bad?

Edited: I assume you are talking of the Amiga version of SF2. Yes, I've played it, it was trash compared to the arcade and console versions. The particularly annoying thing about the Amiga versions of the SF2 games is that they look the part, but the gameplay is quite badly off. SF2 looked and play...

Maybe you have to switch the 'adult' flag on to get more.

[Edit:] Seriously though, I should probably play this game, as a resident of said city. As well as visit the streets in Trashman (Bath), and locate all relevant Powerboxes.

4th Dimension compilation - mag reviews

(Wasn't sure if this is a 'fix', but was prompted to ask this after Kraal was mentioned in the 'guess the screen$' thread) The magazine reviews for the 4th Dimension compilation indicate that it contained: Super Cup Football Kraal Head the Ball Klimax ...Though in our entry, it's got Rollaround in p...

Re: "Just off for a wander..."

Used to love wandering around the castle in Fairlight . Although there's a bit of occasional tile/room repetition (the small tower stairways), I loved the arrangement of the different room shapes and sizes (including outdoor areas) in a logical and congruous way. Felt 'natural' that each one was par...
