Re: The Spectrum 40th Birthday Game Mix Tape bundle is LIVE! :D
Hello again! Just me, talking to myself as usual ;) Doesn't sound like it... :D Well, the bundle is now over, and our grand total at the end was $6310 We'll do this all again in 10 years time, eh? And if you make games, that should be enough notice to get something done for that ;) Yess! In fact, a...

The litmus test of course, is whether Crusher has Primary Imbalance™. Unfortunately only Charles Bystram would know.

Re: C. N. Bystram = Charles Bystram?
Yeah surely that's Brian Bloodaxe's Charles Bystram? I know the world's been rather bonkers of late, but given the coincidence of style, date and (AFAIK) rare surname, it would be excessively bonkers for them not to be one and the same? If Charles Bystram or anyone that knows him is reading, please ...

Re: Doner Kebab (previously unknown)
Interesting. I'm surprised this wasn't noticed back in 2013. The scene was less spread out then, and with Utopian as the coder it would have been a big deal on the Spanish scene at the very least. Is the other author this Javier Moreno ? It looks like it reuses Tapper 's code in fact. The album on S...

Re: The Man with the Golden Joystick
Ace game. I too missed it first time around. It's got great music, plays more lively than JSW, and has Speccy references galore - perfect combination! Are all your games authored with MPAGD? It would be good to add this detail onto our database. Sloany's other games are marked as such - looks like I...

Re: Click With Clive
Slowly getting there. I've beat Clive once, and that was even when a key fudge lost me a straight. On that note (unless you've finished with it totally) I'd recommend adding a wait for no key before the key press check. Quite a few times I've toggled the 'keep' arrive or (fewer times) missed a chance.

Purchased, and it seems nicely put together. It's taking me ages to work out how to play it, despite the instructions and video . I think if you're familiar with Click or Yahzee, then it makes sense (unfortunately I'm neither!).

https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/pub/sinclair/screens/in-game/a/AufWiedersehenPet.gif Auf Wiedersehen Pet . Maybe not set on home turf, but with Geordies, a Scouser, a Brummie and a Cock-an-knee, the characters couldn't be more English. It's a shame the game is more cassette 50 material than the qui...

Wanted Monty Mole . There are so many classic era games that I've filed under 'no chance', but seeing RoseTinted's stream reminded me that you can complete the old games* if you apply yourself. A couple of hours play over the weekend has got me just over halfway. This is a game I knew about from ad...

Re: ZX Spectrum games on the, er, ZX Spectrum (yeah, this is meta)
Well, I suppose there wouldn't be a direct conversion to other platforms, it's literally Spectrum-centric! Does a Comventure or an Amsventure exist? Not with those titles by the looks of it. I'd like to know too - surely there must be 'wander round the internal workings of the C64 / CPC' games. I'v...

https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/pub/sinclair/screens/in-game/s/Specventure.gif Specventure . You play a machine code instruction having to collect bytes in the Spectrum's inner workings. It's single screens, and while it's not an accurate map of the circuit board, it does use the hardware words. Gr...

I wonder if a youngster sees the world fast enough to be able to play that bloody Thumbs up/down minigame in FireFly. Actually I wonder if a fruit fly sees the world fast enough for it, though granted they'd need a special set up to be able to play it.

Great idea that Prodge. That guy's 10-year-old daughter had a go, obviously she had no idea what a ZX Spectrum was, definitely never seen Daley Thompson's Decathlon or any other button masher before. She's into Fortnite, but yeah, we handed the keyboard and tablet over to her and she did very well, ...

Indeed, not to get too post-modern about it, but we've been running this compo for more than 20 years, and there's always the paradoxical question "what is a GOOD crap game?". I'm not keen on the really lazy ones that are a gag or hot topic and a just couple of lines code (and I don't mea...
