Re: Jam!
I didn't expect to like this so much as tight car parks really stress me out. It looks and handles really well. I generally prefer fast, well controlled character cell clunks to smooth movement in puzzle games. It also means we can get some funky colour graphics. A casual bystander would probably th...

Re: Moai / Easter Island statue things in Speccy games
This is clearly a depiction of a Moai, even if the depiction is inconsistent with the game's instructions. It would seem very wrong not to include it in a list of Moai. Not for me. The Inlay looks a bit more like it, but it's a robot mask on Planet Newgamma III. All the others in this group are cle...

Re: Game of the day...
I'm dipping in and out of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. There's a few games inspired by the book , but this one is faithful to Douglas Adams's game. There's also a 'solid gold' version, but on the speccy that seems less functional than the original! Even with a limited word count, Douglas Ad...

Another one added to the Blitz inspired license. I like the caveat "This is a totally non-violent game, you must demolish a block of condemned buildings"

Those are all already at Moai's site* and the ZXDB group @Lee Bee.

Are you tempted to make a new game? With all the tools available these days you won't even need to dedicate a full six week summer holiday to it :–)frankster1970 wrote: ↑Tue May 09, 2023 3:57 pm Really nice to see people solving these ancient problems

Re: IRIS eTrike by Grant Sinclair
I'd certainly like to have a go. I bet 30mph feels pretty thrilling when you're in it (though maybe not as thrilling as 15mph in a C5, or turning a corner on an A-Bike). If the infrastructure was there I'd be happy to use this for commuting. I'm not sure how much I'd be willing to pay though, and I'...

Re: Quest for the Crown
I like the way most items have 2 uses leaving your inventory fairly empty by the end. Yeah me too. Normally I'd be stressed out by that, especially with the red herrings, but there's something about the way this is structured that left me comfortable it wasn't going to be a nightmare. Having fair p...

Welcome frankster1970 ! That's more productive than any school holiday I remember. Great work. Maybe you would have had a better chance at being published just a few years later when the adventure boom started with Zenobi. I'm well chuffed it was saved - I shudder to think how many of these never-pl...

Re: Greek Holidays and other Speccy Art
This was from a digital photo I took. I enhanced the contrast of the image, lowered the resolution and ran an 'edge enhance' filter over it, before reducing the number of colours. Still a pretty poor representation, so then went over the boat in detail, pixel by pixel, tidying it up, shifting bits ...

I wonder where 10 points went astray? I think that's down to the number of turns - I just did a quick runthrough and it scored the full 250. Great game. Coded in 1986, who knows how few eyes saw it since then, to resurface in 2023! If the author's reading - could you give us a bit of background on ...

Re: Quest for the Crown
Yeah same here. I've found lots of problems to solve, and I've got an idea how each one can solve the other, but I can't find the first way 'in'. Time for a walk inbetween bank holiday showers, that might help.
EDIT - aha! progress!

Excellent recovery - thanks to the author. The release has been impeccably timed, it could describe King Charlie's predicament this very morning as he wakes following yesterday's bender. It's classic oldschool - the first action is GET LAMP! I like it so far, some charming GAC pics and the puzzles a...

That's interesting, given the strength of the main poll. Still, the strength of the prop vote is that it's not going to be that disapointing, especially with Oleg's games.PeteProdge wrote: ↑Sun May 07, 2023 9:19 am Oh, and the proportional results show a different winner...

1 - Prince of Persia 2 - Pirates 3 - Rise Out From Dugeons I knew about PoP, but I didn't know about Magicsoft before. These are all impressive games in one way or another. Good work all round.
I've made a new ID and added the TZX, source code and a loading screen, but could a Portuguese speaker upload a running screen please? (I've had a go, but not speaking the language I've not found an interesting screen yet).
