Re: Doomsday & Cell of the Ridges
I think Steve shared this one about five years ago on the 8-bit Text Adventures Facebook group, but I can't recall if it was ever added to the site. This particular compilation was a co-production between David at Quest and Scott at DTHS, with David selling the 3.5" disk version (for +D) and Sc...

Just doing a very quick visual inspection, at the very least the versions of some of the games on The Squirrel's Nuts volume 3 are different to the standalone versions we currently have in the archives.

Re: The Squirrels Nuts
There's quite a few issues with the Simon Avery entries as they stand, iirc. I've probably submitted some pending submissions in the past but I'll mention anything obvious later here as I quickly look at these. These compilations were all released by The Adventure Workshop. Like The Guild before the...

Golden Eggcup is a funny one in that it's more of an enhanced remake than a straightforward re-release.

Re: Game art copied from elsewhere
It's not exactly the same image, but it's clear the cartoon was the source. Some of the other Compass screen and box art has elements inspired by, or taken, from elsewhere including Fighting Fantasy and a fair amount from the Lord of the Rings movie. The working title for The Blood of Bogmole was T...

Nintendo's (and Miyamoto's) stance on this has changed over the years. At one point, Mario had no last name, but the current official view is that, yes, his name is Mario Mario.Juan F. Ramirez wrote: ↑Sat Dec 10, 2022 11:13 am If they're the Mario Brothers... are they Mario Mario & Luigi Mario???

That's fine. I'm happy to flag up things for inclusion and contribute issues to threads like the Little Bugs one, but I won't be doing anything of the level that involves filling in forms, uploading stuff and proper complicated tweaks & submissions. I know, with the way my brain works, that thin...

GAC is the engine behind 143 ZX Spectrum text adventures.... With hindsight, the Quill (1983, Gilsoft) and PAW (1987, Gilsoft) are much better text adventure creators (responsible for 530 and 510 games - respectively - according to ZXDB), albeit they're tougher to learn but (and probably because of...

Ah, that is interesting because it has both the original "Quill A" 1984 text-only version of the game on that tape and the Mad Mac "Quill C & Illustrator" 1985 graphics version on it. Strangely, it looks like the 1984 version wasn't in the archives... all the versions we curr...
