Re: Main logo link when in forum

I wondered why it changed! I have to say I preferred it as hitm4n says.

Sorry to keep adding to the chores Peter. This is one I could change if that was what you wanted & general consensus.

Cackles maniacally....

Yes, it's a recent one (and a very good one).
Aha that's a game changer, 3 is Catacombs of Balachor. I knew I'd seen it.

Any more suggestions? So far machine types, Elite ranks and user customisable.

Juan, was your game characters idea a final one to include or something to improve on?

I'll start a poll tomorrow.

I'm quite getting into this, some of the early tasks are a bit obvious but it's improving. If only he did also graphics is the game... ;) The exsiting graphics are unfortunately a bit simplistic at moments. Aye maybe, the sprites are good enough, apart from that recycled Churrera snake that I've see...

No that's not right. (Now you mention it, I should have put that one in the list, but I'm afraid I didn't.)
One of the first things I searched for, also Jason's Gem.

It's great, has a touch of Brunilda about it (or even Zelda!). It's annoyingly good that it's his first release, most of us can only manage CGC level first time! I didn't test it much myself yet but it's supposed to have over 200 location so it would keep you busy for some time for sure :) The autho...

Re: A suggestion

^Yep^ it's the advanced search you want Juan. The box at the top right is for game titles only. In the white boxes under it, if you put Jon Ritman into the author box it works, ditto Ultimate in publisher. No typos though, or it will be a 'not found'. [EDIT - and at 50 posts I've reached the giddy r...

Re: SC statistics

Is it possible to display some sort of statistics about what people search in SC? It already exists? I mean, the most searched game in general, by genre, by year... Just asking! :) I'm afraid I don't know yet ( I'll be saying that a lot ). I'll check it out at the weekend unless Peter knows already.

Re: Horizontal scrolling solutions #1457

Well, yes. Expand that 'horizontally' to account for individual tiles within the rows as well, and you will get the R-Type method (Zynaps is only marginally similar). It sounds so easy! I'll need to set a full day aside after a good night's sleep before I dare attempt it again. An advantage of the ...

My vote for game characters, in old WoS style: Sabreman, Jet Set Willy, Monty Mole, ... and Fred. Yes, Fred would be a good rank! :D Is that^ the old WoS list? (Surely Sir Fred should be at the top). I remember it had Elite at the top and then Clumsy Colin added, or was that a later WoS list?

Horizontal scrolling solutions #1457

Another way I looked at of scrolling a decent sized screen and staying within 25fps is to cheat a bit, as I mentioned in the Edge Grinder thread I couldn't work out how to scroll only the background on screen, I came up with this a while back (not saying it's an original idea). http://www.stonechatp...

Short beeper routines in assembly

I always end up using the same spot effects, usually nabbed from the DKTronics SoundFX tape. I know we've got BeepFX for the more elaborate ones, but I thought this would be a good place to share shortish beeper routines people can use. Here's a simple zap. ; zap: ld d,16 ;speaker = bit 4 ld e,0 ;di...
