Re: Are the NEXT's graphics 'authentic?'

I'm temporarily locking this thread. I'm still hoping that we can discuss the Next without a small minority who insist on adding toxicity to any Next discussion. It's getting very boring now.

Re: Best puzzle games

It has to be the game that lured me back to the Spectrum in late 2004 after that 'Amiga and early PC Years'. Still a favourite. https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/SCRtoImage.php?SCR=pub/sinclair/screens/load/f/scr/FireNIce.scr&border=0 https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/15215/ZX-Spectrum/Fire_n_...

No. It's a recompiled and slightly optimised version of Abersoft Forth for the Spectrum.

Re: FUSE error: "Couldn't play sound"

madaxe , This is indeed very strange. I'm not sure it will make any difference, but you could delete or rename (if you want to save it) your config file. If you are using Windows you will find the file here (delete or move it with Fuse closed). This file is not removed when you uninstall Fuse (As f...

Re: FUSE error: "Couldn't play sound"

Hi madaxe , Is this something new, or has it always happened? Have you added or removed any hardware? Do you have any hardware attached, or other software applications which may have sole control over sound devices. Can you play audio through your web browser and other software? Stereo Mix has cause...

Re: Using A.I to recreate ZX Spectrum loading screens.

@C.Born has created a copy of the Lord of the Rings image. This is GigaScreen, so only works on emulators that support this. Chris recommends Retro Virtual Machine. The file is attached.

Re: Chain Reaction - Durrell or Elite as publisher?

It would appear that Einar Saukas has taken the executive decision to change the publisher to 'Durell Software Ltd (UK) / Elite Systems Ltd (UK)' (as he made a suggestion of doing in an earlier post). Hopefully that will please everyone. StooB will hopefully be happy, and the 'general user' who sear...

Many of the RPGs in our collection could probably be described as roguelike. It's interesting that the authors just describe it as an adventure.

I should have read the help message from @Morkin more carefully! It's the name you give the 'New Dungeon'! You can then share that with friends so you are playing the same game

Re: Out of the Shadows

Thanks ParadigmShifter , I tried that, but the box mentioned to the West actually contains two markers rather than a tinderbox. If you choose my method, then at the start go west off the screen and open the box you find there. Take the tinderbox out and head back east onto the starting screen. From ...

Out of the Shadows

After Morkin mentioned Out of the Shadows a few days back, I've been rather addicted to it. I'm no good yet, but I still enjoy it. There is a letter in Crash from a John Maynard who provides a walkthrough for beginners. It begins as follows: The best dungeon set up I have found so far is JOHN and it...

Re: Not computer based, but does anyone know anything about Old Cameras

eBay is probably the best place to check stupidget . You can search for sold prices. If you have Nikon, Leica, Hasselblad, or Mamiya kit then it's potentially worth something. If you have any local camera shops, most will be very helpful, especially if they know you are selling. You are welcome to P...
