Re: The best Speccy game by Infogrames: vote
Sim City has swept the board here, getting 15 votes. In joint second place, we have Hostages and Vera Cruz, with six votes each. The Light Corridor and North & South have three votes each to be in joint third place. Mandragore and Sidewalk are joint fourth, with two votes each. Finally, someone ...

Space Harrier is in fifth place, with four votes. Joint sixth, with two votes each, Gilligan's Gold and...

Re: How hard would it be to hack these racers?
With Enduro Racer, they've not bothered with sprite masking - the pixels are just plonked on whatever's there, so that makes the graphics easier shift in a fast way.

Wow, so the qualifications clearly aren't remotely related to typography or graphic design.

It's honorable mentions all round when it comes to technical merit, but some of those other games are just too tough to be fun; I'm looking at you, Marauder and Ghosts n' Goblins. The thing is, the original arcade incarnation of Ghosts N Goblins was always tough, so I guess it's a case of being fai...

The best Speccy game by Exxos: discussion
A brand acquired by Infogrames when they bought up rivals ERE Informatique (who I will also be doing a poll on soon). According to this website, ERE Informatique was "renamed from Exxos" . I think the other way round is nearer to the truth! Anyway, an easy one here, because Exxos on the ZX...

The Crystal Of Chantie, The (G.A.C. version) has won this, with four votes. In second place, one vote went to Dollars In The Dust. Only one proportional voter means my work in compiling the proportional results is easy, albeit not exactly reflective of the five voters in the phpBB poll: Dollars In T...

You've got seven days to muse over that Ghosts N Goblins screenshot and decide whether its awfulness is a factor in how you vote for that game. Oh and there are some others as well... That Wonka Experience feels pretty much like I felt after going to Cadbury World with my kids in about 2010. Okay, it's nowhere near as bad as that, but it's probably the most disappointing day out I've ever had. I/we had been wanting to go for years and I wasn't expecting Willy Wonka's Chocolate F...

You're probably gettign no likes because there is a lack of context. The only reason I "get" that picture now is that someone randomly posted a YouTube video of some bloke talking of that Glasgow Willy Wonka debacle on a Discord server I'm on. Since it's sorta UK news I doubt I would have...

Re: The 20 games with a <= 10% rating from all three major ZX Spectrum magazines
You wouldn't have this one in your list as 1. It's C+VG and 2. C+VG didn't have an Overall rating at the time, but it's possibly the only Speccy review of a game that goes into (averaged) negative marks territory: https://archive.org/details/ComputerAndVideoGamesIssue061Nov86/page/n23/mode/1up?view...

Re: The 52 games with awards from all three major ZX Spectrum magazines
In hindsight this was not enough and I have also added you to the video description. I went down the rabbit hole of ranking the games and forgot to properly credit the original idea properly and for that I apologise. Thanks Seb. I do like quite a lot of your videos BTW and I'll eventually return to...

Re: The 20 games with a <= 10% rating from all three major ZX Spectrum magazines
More generally, video game review scores have always had a problem where an average game is more likely to score around 60-70 and, once you get below 50, the numbers become pretty much arbitrary. Things like how much advertising the publisher has booked may play a role too. Speaking of which, has a...

Re: The 20 games with a <= 10% rating from all three major ZX Spectrum magazines
Am I misunderstanding your thread title? You list games that scored way more than 10% from one or two of the magazines, as confirmed by the averages you mention, yet the thread is called "<= 10% from all three magazines"? To me "from all three" means "The game received a ra...

Re: The 20 games with a <= 10% rating from all three major ZX Spectrum magazines
Los Angeles SWAT got awarded 26% by Crash and 2/10 by both SU and YS, so maybe that should be on the list? Nope, the parameters for inclusion is to be effectively rated 0%-10%. 26% is too high and 2/10 is effectively 20%. As utterly awful as LA Swat is, it's too high for this thread. Obviously the ...

The 20 games with a <= 10% rating from all three major ZX Spectrum magazines
Last year, I made a thread about all the games that got awards from all major ZX Spectrum magazines . It was titled 'The 52 games with awards from all three major ZX Spectrum magazines', as that's what I found in my initial calculation. However, it's actually 53, as I learnt when @zx4ever responded ...
