Re: Timex - Hungry Horace Cover Wanted

Sorry for the wisecracking, but does your scanner really support 2400 dps physical resolution? Mine goes as high, but it is only interpolating. As the interpolation routine usually is not very good, if you have to interpolate, it is preferable to scan at physical resolution and use professional sof...

Re: Spectranet

There was a 2 player game apparently written for the spectranet by Winston as I recall but wasn't "released", I think @guesser played it didn't you? Do you mean Spectank? That's up to four players and was "released" as it's all in the examples section of the spectranet source. I...

Re: Spectranet

Some years ago I purchased a Spectranet from @beanz who kindly posted it all the way from the USA. Anyway, its been sitting in my box of random Spectrum since since I got it, but today I finally gave it a go, and its wonderful! I thought I would post a few photos. Does anyone else have one? I note ...

Re: Timex - Hungry Horace Cover Wanted

Here you go, I also scanned Horace and the Spiders and Horace goes Skiing as they are slightly different images of Horace too. I scanned at 2400 dps (highest my scanner would go) and saved as tif...that makes them 250mb each! Below is a sample JPG version, if you need the tif drop me an email with s...

Re: ZX Spectrum Next Discussion

Yes very encouraging. I doubt we'll see it before Xmas though, Boat is going to take about 6 weeks from loading to delivery (based on how long it takes the stuff I get for our company from Taiwan). They of course have to make them before they ship them too and that's probably another 4-6 weeks I'm g...

Re: Just got a ZX Printer, recommended precautions?

The belt is either broken now, or will break shortly after you apply power to print something. As far as I'm aware the only solution currently is to send it off to the Gledhills. It's possible to 3d print your own belts (I've fixed all 3 of my ZX printers doing this) Using flexible filament. It's n...

Don't worry they'll be a 2nd run and that wont be half as long a wait as all the work will be done, I might get myself another on the 2nd run too.

Yes they already refunded me, and probably 1000 others too, I'm assuming ebay ate the cost on that rather than being able to recover for the fake seller.

Re: "not a Spectrum game"

Multi load, skillful coding, "cut down" version...they managed to get Carrier Command a 16bit 1mb+ game on the speccy 128k. Not to mention Gunship, Stealth fighter etc etc, all much larger 16bit disk based games. It's not an issue of getting a bigger 16-bit game into an 8-bit. The problem...

Re: "not a Spectrum game"

Both of those fit on cassette though. How can you port a disk-only C64 game to the Spectrum if they couldn't even make a C64 tape version? Multi load, skillful coding, "cut down" version...they managed to get Carrier Command a 16bit 1mb+ game on the speccy 128k. Not to mention Gunship, St...

Re: Gaming chair

I figured it was a Hijacked account, I also know I'll get my $$$ back off Ebay/Paypal so no risk really...I'm curious though if I'll actually get a box. I've read before they often ship you something so they can continue with the scam for a few weeks until they get rumbled...I just hope it's not a p...

Re: ZX Spectrum Next Discussion

I can understand the delays and though it's been an annoyingly long time I'm still ok with the wait. However the lack of communication is very unprofessional and the fanbois attacking anyone who asks should imo be banned from the facebook group...if they ban detractors they should ban the toxic ones...

Re: ZX Spectrum Next Discussion

Still probably 3 or 4 months out to actually getting it, first they have to make the keyboards/cases, then on the slow boat and customs...that's 5-6 weeks, then they have to assemble and test etc.

Knight Lore, though Alien 8 was more polished.

Sabrewulf was let down by the death from above and below problem, otherwise that would have been a contender.

There is no update because nothing has changed The change is the fact it wont be shipping by end of Q2 as promised, regardless of the issues that is an update in itself, and one that would take 5 mins to write and post. Not all backers are following every post made and I suspect many are still thin...

Re: Random numbers

Anyone know what that CLEAR command would be or how else to ensure REAL randomness for each game?. It's RANDOMIZE, not CLEAR. Running RANDOMIZE without parameters will use current value of FRAMES (i.e how many frames since the machine was turned on) as random seed. In practice, wait for some kind o...
