Re: Jet Set Willy colour card...

I remember borrowing Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles for the c64 from a schoolmate, when I got home and loaded the game it asked for a pass-code with 4 digits. I checked the box and there was no sheet in there, so I just entered 4 numbers at random and the game started. What are the odds of that? Of cou...

Re: Trace It!

Fun little game! Only managed to get off the first level on my last life and promptly ran into the nearest wall as soon as the second one started. Will put this on my ZXDS flashcart, seems to be a good pick up and play game.

Re: Elite a lifetime of work :)

Yeah, the FPS drops quickly in witch-space (though it can be advantageous). There are several ways to handle the Thargoids there, I think my best strategy was to use the cloak (which neatly disables their E.C.M's), take out two with missiles then uncloak and hit the other two with a front mining las...

Congratulations mate! :D Remember to send for your badge.

I thought you would be grinding Thargoids in witchspace, iirc it was 45-60 minutes between ROC's doing it that way.

Re: Elite a lifetime of work :)

Right on, Commander! :D I've only made it to Deadly on the Spectrum version (a couple of years ago), but I've managed to reach Elite on the NES version. Mission 1 (Sun going super nova) is triggered after you've made 32 hyperspace jumps in any galaxy but the first. Mission 2 (The cloaked Asp) is tri...

Cauldron II's map is my favourite, it's absolutely huge and each room is unique, the castle is clearly resembling the Palace logo as well. https://maps.speccy.cz/maps/Cauldron2.png

Edit: got sniped.

Re: Beat 'em up competition

Nice idea! It will be interesting to see if there'll be an attempt at a 1 on 1 fighter with modern staples like combos, punishments, zoning etc. Could be a real challenge with only one fire button, although there are a handful of really great fighting games on gameboy that only uses 2 buttons, I gue...

Re: Woot 2019 Tape Magazine

Trying to make it different. If the difference makes it significantly less fun to play I can change it. Having not played it for a long time and now looking at it with fresh eyes, it is probably too harsh. It's just kind of unfair as you can't avoid it. I think one of the reasons the original game ...

Re: Woot 2019 Tape Magazine

Woot! Great stuff! The ZXDB may want to mention that Sploids is inspired by Quartet/Assembloids . Had a quick go and found out that you can be dealt impossible parts, for an example, an upper-right part when all upper-right corners are already filled. Can't remember the original doing that (albeit I...

Re: The randomize of death

The Vectrex uses a different system. This type of CRT system is completely different to the way conventional CRT monitors and TVs work. With the Vectrex, the beams position is directly controlled by the program. So if your program gets things wrong, it could leave the beam in one position. This cou...

Re: The randomize of death

I bought a Vectrex, years ago, with the intent of doing some prods for it. It had a dodgy cartridge port and I couldn't be bothered to have it fixed so I sold it on. I remember reading some programmer's manual that said you could easily damage the machine if you loaded the wrong value in a certain r...

Re: 19 new games at Yandex competition!!!!

Here is a walkthrough video with the CD tracks running in the background. Nice music, but not quite appropriate for a fast-paced action game, rather for an adventure/role-play/strategy one. Reading the comment section for that video, Zotova states; it's not the full OST but a bonus track by Tiurula...

I've been playing Valley of Rains. Beautiful graphics, tight controls and really fun! Reminds me of Savage but much better. I've made it to level 6, anyone know how many there are? Just completed it! :D Took a fair few tries though (an auto-fire poke would've been nice). There are 8 levels. Had 3 l...
