Re: Transliteration
If we are deciding between transliteration achemes, and I'm waiting on Einar to confirm that, think it is important to decide what the objective is. Generally, and certainly for Greek, you have a choice of prioritising: 1. Phonetic similarity. Eg Fisiki. 2. Similarity with English spelling. Eg Physi...

Re: Cover Artists 2
(if only this site had "real" manuals instead of all these transcripts) It's an unfortunate legacy from WoS, which at some point switched to .txt files to save memory. I agree it would be better to have the full instructions and I think several people have been working to improve this asp...

Re: Cover Artists 2
The Mobygames entry might have changed since I wrote that post. It was 9 months ago. Good catch. Haha Yeah, so sorry is taking so long to got through the reports, I know you also compiled a list, but I like to review them in case I can catch something else, like other authors and roles. In this cas...

Re: Cover Artists 2
I was looking at this, and seems that the cover artists is in fact Alan Craddock , and they used some drawings from Angus McKie for the game manual. I can see references of Alan Craddock here and here . Also, looking at his Twitter he seems to be the author for the Solider of Light cover https://sp...

Re: Currencies
I think that there can be NO EXACT transliteration between languages which use different letters and/or phonemes... Anyone can write any greek word using latin letters in ANY alternative form he prefers as long as the letters used are equal or similar to the phonemes of the original greek letters. ...

Re: Currencies
I have no idea what the A B signify in this case, and I should make clear my Greek expertise is limited to BCE dates! The authors also wrote a similar chemistry program subtitled (gamma) Gymnasiou that needs the same correction so I'll assume there's a uMIA title out there somewhere that's subtitle...

Re: Currencies
My suggestion would be to use a transliterated version as the main title, with the original and translations as aliases. The transliteration system should be consistent. For modern Greek, I think the second set of transliterations I gave are usual. (Note the authors' names are also oddly translitera...

Re: Currencies
There's also the issue of diacritics. If you use them, you can add:
4. Φυσική Α Β Γυμνασίου.
5. Physiké A B Gymnasíou, Fysikí A V Gymnasíou.
4. Φυσική Α Β Γυμνασίου.
5. Physiké A B Gymnasíou, Fysikí A V Gymnasíou.

Re: Currencies
This information came from Martijn's WoS that didn't support UTF-8. Would you be able to provide a correction? I'll give it a shot, based on my limited knowledge of Greek transliteration. The authors also wrote a similar chemistry program subtitled (gamma) Gymnasiou that needs the same correction s...

Re: Zx Spectrum rubber keys first edition
We do indeed think that some issue two boards were in cases with the first type of light grey keyboard mat. Sinclair and their manufacturer (Timex) used whatever parts were available at the time.... However, the later the machine was produced in the year, the less likely it is to have been fitted w...

Re: Zx Spectrum rubber keys first edition
(I never opened up either of the Spectrums to check issue numbers, and don't have them any more .) Oh, this is the usual story that when I hear/read it makes me sad... Well, the first one went kaput and was sent back to Sinclair for the replacement, so I was never going to have kept that one. The s...

Re: Zx Spectrum rubber keys first edition
Did any Issue 2s have light grey keys? My first Spectrum (a 48K) had light grey keys. It was delivered in late November-early December 1982. At the time I believed it was an Issue 2 (which would make sense given the timing). However, it definitely had lighter coloured keys. It was replaced in 1983, ...

Re: Do you remember the first time?
25 December 1982... Morning: Meteoroids, by Softek, which was AWESOME. Afternoon: Games 5 (Star Trail), by Sinclair Research. It may have been in BASIC, it may have just been a Star-Trek clone, but it, too, was AWESOME. Evening: Hungry Horace. Once again, AWESOME. Night: A quick run-through of The H...

Per the thread linked below, Jangler should have Jungler as a tie-in/licence/inspiration:
