It was emulating a standard 48.
Normal mode still.

Re: A Yankee in Iraq, a 50 fps SHMUP
Noticed the yankee in iraq logo corrupted at some point. Curious. Do you remember how that happened exactly? (Wish you had an RZX recording of that.) Which machine (emulated or real) were you playing on? Unfortunately not. I did nothing unusual to be honest. Switched difficulty from hard to normal ...

Re: A Yankee in Iraq, a 50 fps SHMUP
Easy is too easy to the point of being dull. Hard is still too hard. I think I need a medium level difficultly. :) My top score on hard is 1040. Frustrating things I find: 1. planes appearing immediately from behind in line with your copter on start, no chance to avoid it. That's unfair. Give me som...

Re: Specchums and the coronavirus.
I count to be there at around 7.00 am, at opening time, in order to avoid staying in the queue for too long. I thought the same thing last week, but I came across an infinite queue, I found that it's best to go around 13:30, when people are eating, fewer queue. Over here in the UK you'd be lucky to...

My office is closed and everyone working remotely. As head of IT I've had a few perilous days discovering things don't work at all when under load. All good fun though? Maybe.

I went to a 16bit show at the horticultural hall in about 1990, was promised amazing discounts awaited me inside. I went full of hope for an Amiga or St, I returned home deflated and empty handed.

I've managed to locate my 2016 WIP off old dead PC. Now trying to work through it again. Some clarification: in the absence of a loading screen (for example, game was provided as snapshot) would you like a title screen instead?

Who Dares Wins 2: https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/pub/sinclair/screens/in-game/w/WhoDaresWinsII.gif Graphics are quite ugly in my opinion but playability is surprisingly good. If you love Commando or Ikari Warriors then you should like this one too. I have temtations to give it a modding treatment,...

The only Beyond game I ever played was Sorderon's Shadow. No idea what the heck it was about but it sure looked nice. My mate left it on my porch one day out of the blue with a post-it note saying this is bird's crap. I guess he didn't like it.

Re: Royal Mail Retro video games stamps
I thought Dizzy was birthed on the Amstrad so wouldn’t it be more accurate to include the Amstrad version rather than our beloved Speccy one though? This is something of a misnomer. It was written on the Amstrad, but it's clear that the primary target platform is the Speccy. Inside the code for the...

Re: The best Speccy game by A 'n' F Software: discussion
Never played Xeno before. It seems quite good but I am a bit confused about the controls - it is turn based? No. You have to get to the ball before you opponent does. There’s an adjustable shot time limit, too, so if you hesitate, your . . . hmm . . . puck will shoot in the direction of the pointer...
