Re: Midland Peak Fleet Manager
Fantastic! Greenup Enterprises strikes again. UMIA too. I wonder if this means we can expect a London and Scottish line Peak Fleet manager too...
I need to catch up on the preservation stuff. Will get this added soon.

Re: New game from Inufuto: Guntus
Inufutu really is quite something - manages to port the game to twenty different machines, and if that wasn't enough it caters for beeper and AY alternatives!
It plays pretty well too, despite being character based.

Re: Yokai Monk
Completed. This is one of my favourites of the year. Ariel has done a great job with the levels and game design. Some of the time limits get a bit hairy towards the end, but it's essentially a puzzle game with infy lives and no stress. It's a brilliant riff on the sprite teamwork idea. I'd never hea...

Good morning Set 1. It's the last day of term, so I've got a real treat for you. Do you like Maths, and do you like Blitz? ... Oh. To be fair I would have enjoyed playing this BITD, especially if reinforced the 'helping with your homework' notion. Gilby if you have an inlay, or any info on year, pu...

Re: "Thumping" sound in sound routine
The thing is I get this weird "thumping" sound when the siren is looping in the background and I have no idea what's causing it. All emulators I've tried recreate it pretty consistently so I'm assuming a real Spectrum would do it as well (don't have any real hardware to test). Can you cla...

I've just got around to playing this—another innovative AGD game from Ariel. This is up there with the likes of Vampire Vengeance. Great work.

It'll be fine. Just keep a copy of the Cassette 50 on hand in case it gets rebellious, that'll make it lose the will to exist.

I can read the written text using google translate, but can anyone translate the audio file that is linked to while playing the game? Either a PM or reply here in spoiler brackets? Thread calling a Spanish specchum! @Ivanzx @+3code ?

Re: Crímenes Ilustrados
This is a great. It's the kind of quality BASIC game like the Wild Bunch that gets around BASIC with design rather than technique. There isn't a lot of Spanish to translate, so I should be able to play this one through. That said, a translation would be nice too. This must be a contender for the bes...

Re: What's this command? (Poll)
You learn something every day, or once a week or so anyway. I'd never heard of it, but assumed that because it wasn't April 1st, option 4 was out, and I had to plump for the honest remaining option of #3. My guess was that it worked on all Speccys to clear a specific part of memory, but the more I t...

I'm afraid I wouldn't choose any from either poll (sorry Lee!). I'm okay enough with the basic ones because they are already there and it doesn't involve work for Peter to worry about the extras every forum update (even though the default smiley :) does have shades of the 'Hide the pain Harold ' mem...

Re: The Speccy's most blaverage games
The entire output of Software Projects in 1984 that weren't Willy based. Astronut, Orion, Thrusta, Tribble Trouble I'd put Astronut well above bleverage. It's not as good as MM of course, but it's a bit of an undiscovered gem in my book. The 'no jump' mechanic makes for a nice change of strategy, a...

Re: "Lost Games" from 1983
In the end I found the best approach was to work on one game at a time, sampling the audio at 44kHz, then applying post processing the waveform, such as filtering to adjust the EQ trying different frequencies, and then normalising the waveform. The next step was to play with the various settings in...

After that I'll just need to source a copy, find an emulator of some kind and put the kids to bed early. If AndyC is right, the page he links to has 'Main File Downloads'. The tape or snapshot icon downloads the file (where present), and QAOP or JSpeccy launch it in an online emulator for a quick t...

Re: Woot 2022 - submissions wanted
Progress still continues. And I thought I had reason to be excited earlier, when I found a reason to use NEG in a machine code routine rather than CPL (there were two similar routines, one of which had a CPL soon afterwards). It gets better: in the BASIC listing, there's a completely legitimate use...
