Re: New WoS and ZXDB

That is something else that has nothing to do with the forums. You're obviously confused. This is the Spectrum Computing form. This section is ZXDB discussion, so this thread - about the use of ZXDB on WoS - is perfectly on topic. The WoS forum, too, is even more so on topic. Remember when Fogarty ...

Re: New WoS and ZXDB

[ test changes in a development or staging area before pushing them out To be honest this also happens on SC sometimes. I know since I've done it myself  On our hobby- and side-projects we all do it, until we get burned enough, then we evolve to deploying things in a more battle-tested way. :-...

Re: New WoS and ZXDB

There is no valid reason why new WoS can't support the ZXDB-minted id for titles that weren't in old WoS, thus preserving the ZXBD id. That's already been seen, as new titles not in old-WoS that briefly appeared in new WoS had the same id as those in ZXDB. When did the new titles get added to WoS? ...

Re: New WoS and ZXDB

@Mike Davies Lee will never confess that WoS is using ZXDB. his ego won't allow him. it is like you were telling people that Einar stole the data, and ZXDB is crap, and then suddenly saying that ZXDB is better than your work. and now you have publicly apologize to Einar and other ZXDB-connected peo...

Re: New WoS and ZXDB

WoS seems to be down.... It's a syntax error in the PHP script -- so Fogarty doesn't test changes in a development or staging area before pushing them out to a production server. Interestingly enough, the file being edited is the software details page. If past behaviours continue, perhaps he's addi...

Desert Rats 128k loading screen

I noticed in my recent spate of cassette tape testing that the 128k version of Desert Rats (on the B-side of Desert Rats) has two variants. https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/1357/ZX-Spectrum/Desert_Rats On the entry page for it, it shows a binoculars picture for the 128k version, which is correc...

Re: New WoS and ZXDB

Now that it's irrefutable that the new WoS is using ZXDB, and that Fogarty is making changes direct to the database to bypass the changes/versioning layer of his CMS, and that the new titles added to ZXDB that briefly appeared on new WoS with their ZXDB minted ids: There is no valid reason why new W...

Re: New WoS and ZXDB

Regarding the useful gold mine of information on the forums, is there a plan (even if it's covert?) that's underway to somehow mine this, err, gold so that it doesn't get lost due to Lee's incompetence? Obviously, if it's covert then no-one's going to say anything... so I'll take that as proof that...

Re: New WoS and ZXDB

It turns out new WoS is using ZXDB ! More precisely ZXDB version 1.08 released on September 2, 2018. This is a remarkable piece of investigative work. Exemplary. I guess WoS now needs to acknowledge that it's powered by ZXDB, like every site using data from it. If that can be done in good faith - t...

Re: Definitive list of games incompatible with +2A/+3 and of compatible versions (if any)

Sly Spy Secret Agent (Hit Squad release) crashes on completion of loading the 128k side using a +2A's Tape Loader option. 48k version on the other side works fine. I tried the 128k version again by going into 128k basic, entering USR 0. 128k side loads fine, and I'm at the menu along with 128k music...

Re: Definitive list of games incompatible with +2A/+3 and of compatible versions (if any)

It’s likely the malformed TZX file. There are a few floating around that prose problems loading on real hardware. Incidentally, M.A.S.K. is one of them. This is loading the original cassette. I know for sure the original Gremlin cassette fails on the +2A, and worked okay with a Sony TCM 939 cassett...

Re: Definitive list of games incompatible with +2A/+3 and of compatible versions (if any)

I'm having a problem getting Gremlin's M.A.S.K to load on a +2A Spectrum. Today I've tried the Byte-Back version which looks to use the same loader as the original Gremlin release. It's the green & black stripey loader, where the loading screen loads line by line from the bottom upwards. The Byt...

Re: Definitive list of games incompatible with +2A/+3 and of compatible versions (if any)

Two recent games for me that don't seem to work on a +2A, but worked fine on a 128k: Bedlam Original GO! release: Game loads, but noticeable graphics corruption on the menu, and crashes when starting a new game. I haven't tried the Sinclair User cover-tape version. Guerilla War Original Imagine rele...

Re: New Upload & Edit Facility

Ok, first question. If I want to remove a game from a group, for example, I want to remove https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/index.php?cat=96&id=2778 from "vector graphics" group, how I must proceed? Seems to me that a "no group" option should be present at the top? Or a check...

I added four files - TAP+TZX+2xSCR, but only the last one was uploaded I guess. ;)
Thanks for the bug report. I'll look into it. Not sure what's causing that yet.

That's what Rorthron reported earlier too, and should now be fixed.

Re: ZX Vega+ Discussion

I've just received notification via Companies house email alerts that Paul Andrews and Chris Smith are now directors again at RCL. That is remarkable. There's a lead-time before records at Companies House are updated, so this happened at least a few days ago. This is the first mention I've seen of ...

I stopped following this saga a long time ago, so I'm not sure why my games aren't on the list as I gave permission years ago and never retracted it. Seeing the finished product I should be thankful... I never retracted my permissions either. On the contrary, I actually spent time over a year ago c...

Re: [insert game name here] would have been great if only you could....

Slapfight would have been great if you could only see the bullets, and the ground wasn't as busy. Oh yeah, Operation Thunderbolt would have been great if you could only have crosshairs. Wizball would have been great if only you could have that control power-up enabled by default instead of bouncing ...

And maybe also "The Seven Parchments of Kandos"
