Re: Yet another newbie with high hopes...

Am getting very close to retirement and would like to rekindle my dreams of programming a Spectrum game in assembly language, but need some pointers to get started. Glad to hear it! There's good advice above, but just in case you struggle with Pasmo and want to try another angle, this was my way in...

Re: Birdbase

It's pleasantly surprising that after all this time, software like this can still appear that is not only MIA, but uMIA! Speaking as a (lapsed) birder, I'd like to see the inlay or instructions if they exist. I've worked out that some of the keys are 6,7,0,enter, but there's a lot more to it. Sorry,...

Re: The Towering Inferno

the only bit missing is that I never spent the afternoon typing it in from a magazine then another hour working out why it doesn't work correctly and trying to find the typos in the listing. ;) That bit now gets replaced with an afternoon doing DIY and then another hour working out why it doesn't w...

Re: Caveted Against the Darkness

So I was relieved this morning to realize that it's 'Cave Ted'. Phew, that's better. Ha. I'm an idiot. I was puzzled by the word and didn't make the link you did. I created the ID with 'Caveted' in the title, but should it be 'Cave Ted'? There is no obvious space on the inlay, loading or opening sc...

Re: Caveted Against the Darkness

Lovely. This brings back memories of 'next level' BASIC coding: trying out larger sprites, baddies, gravity, flipscreen, and pretending it was a proper release by drawing an inlay. Fernando's efforts were way better than mine though! I like the jumping sword action, but it doesn't seem to kill any b...

Re: Mr Hair and the Kitty Katakombs

This is the demo version, and I assume it's the same as the one that appeared on the Crash tape. Nice one Peter. There's also Mr Hair's a very Hairy Remix on the Crash tape. Making entries for both now. It's like the first Mr Hair game in reverse, with extra bits and bobs. IMO it's different enough...

Re: Spectrum Disassembler

This is a decent disassembler for less than 5K. If I understood what it meant BITD I'd have made use of it. I wonder if the publisher is Your Computer magazine, same as this author's assembler , but I couldn't find evidence of it in the magazine 1982 - 1983. I'll leave publisher blank for now, if an...

Re: Pouch the Beetle by Michal Hlavac?

Thanks fellas. I did wonder if it was that game, but it looked more like a serious text adventure going by the opening screen. I'm also a bit confused why it's both Chrobák Truhlík and Brouk Pytlík.

Pouch the Beetle by Michal Hlavac?

Jaroslav Svelch's book 'Gaming the Iron Curtain' mentions 'Pouch the Beetle' and says it was a minor speccy hit in Czechoslovakia. I can't find it in the archive. Has it been lost, or was it not a spectrum compatible game?

Re: Circuit Breaker

Sweet. I would have been very chuffed with myself if I coded this BITD. Jumping on level 3 is trying my patience a bit, so I'm not sure I'll finish this one.

Given the blue main sprite on the inlay, Cascade could have repackaged this as a Watchmen game!

This looks like another highly technical one that would be even more impressive if I knew the topic. I managed to input some values that I thought were sensible (and it does give an "unrealistic data" warning if you get silly), it flew for 3000ft, but the trajectory graph didn't have a lin...

Sounds okay to my ear, and the record play feature is nice. Are there any musicians out there willing to record a snapshot showing just how good this rather limited organ can sound?

Re: Rave to the sound of... a ZX Spectrum loading

I can't identify the game but I can identify the song - Manic Minor by Jega from 1999. With that title it's got to be a Spectrum as opposed to anything else. Ah new to me - great shout. I think we can put it even further beyond reasonable doubt, not that there was any, that Jega is a Specchum if yo...

Re: Castle Escape

You can spot the Spanish style can't you? There's something in the graphics and those tiny spider sprites that gives it away (and this is where someone points out that it's Italian or something). It's not AGD either, so there's a different speed and jumping arc to get used to. Nice to see masked spr...
