Re: Congratulations to IvanBasic
Would like to see a video of this. Profanation is one of my favorites, and I really like to see Sinclair Basic versions of known games. Jet Set Basic comes to mind. I had no idea this compo was going on. Reminds me of the Bytemaniacos compos. Someone ask IvanBasic if he'd be able to do a Basic versi...

Re: What are your thoughts on "mismatched" game music?
Nice topic. I thought I was the only one. :) I usually decide against starting topics like this one for the same reason I refrain from saying "Not another AGD game" or complaining about the lack of key redefining. I expect people to immediately say "Just be thankful we still get new g...

Re: Headerless byte loading
Inspired by the IT crowd topic and because we now have a machine code routine to help us with the task, I hope someone can identify anything from the blocks of code I extracted from the Scott Pilgrim DVD. Re: ZX Spectrum code on The IT Crowd DVD ?
If anyone has most of the existing Spectrum software collection on their hard drive, would it be possible to look for this block on code on that hard drive? Someone a few months ago said it would be easy to do if we were looking for part of a loading screen.

Re: ZX Spectrum code on The IT Crowd DVD ?
It is possible, as discussed in this topic (where I'm still hoping to get some help): https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6978&hilit=code&start=10 I don't know assembler, but I'm sure someone could modify the following code to load data in the screen area as bytes instead ...

Turned 46 this month. The desire to work less and spend more time with loved ones, and time doing what I like, increases as I age.

Re: working on wav2ay
A few years later, I wonder if there's an easy way of starting with a .WAV file and ending up a .TAP or .TZX file with the player plus the block of code. I've always found digitised audio fascinating. Related: A long time ago Gasman released a demo that attempted to combine digitised speech and AY m...

Re: Thoughts on the Amstrad takeover
I can't find it right now, but I saw some words by Sir Alan Sugar which may have been copied from the book "The Amstrad Story". In it he describes how he had the grey +2 ready to produce even before the takeover was certain. I can't remember everything he stated, but I think there was also...

Re: Modern Sprite Editor
A bit off-topic but... does anyone remember which Spectrum software came with a sprite editor on side B? I think it was The Artist or The Artist II. Speaking of modern software, does anyone use screen$ editors to create sprites? I remember Dunny releasing a screen editor around the same time ZX Spin...

Re: AMX Mouse -Some hardware information.
Although I'm not a hardware person, this is very interesting. Reminded me of the new Kempston mouse interfaces made by Velesoft a couple years ago: https://velesoft.speccy.cz/kmturbo2008-cz.htm https://velesoft.speccy.cz/kmsoft.htm I remember back in 1987 seeing the AMX mouse ads in British magazine...

None of those. Another clue: Sometimes you'd have several of these baddies on the screen at the same time. If no one guesses it I'll post a larger screenshot.

Re: Any chance of identifying the game used in this clip?
Little bump. Based on the routine below, could someone adapt it or write something similar but make it save the data to RAM instead of displaying characters? I know graphics won't look right if we don't know exactly where to load them in the screen area, but if we could import the data into into Spe...
