Good god no! As is the case so many times, I'm indebted to Claus and ZX-Paintbrush (which is almost as good as Advanced Art Simulator).

Never the less that screenshot's going on the box when it sells for £20!

Nice idea. Hope your challenge deadlines are free and easy, as I've intended to do most of these so far, without success! (Mind you, spring varies a lot these days).

What if you don't live in a place where it's spring?

You'll have to make it about the lesser crested chuzzwazza hibernating, or some other animal that you antipodeans have given a bloody silly name.

Erhm, I forgot about that...

I've updated the web-page now, and I've extended the deadline by ten days after R-Tape's comment.

Quite a nice game.
Spoiler
If you want to win by cheating, all you have to do is delete the quotes, type a$(l, 1) with any number 1-8, and you'll always get a letter from the secet word.

It's pretty good actually. I like the yellow/white layout.

And we're learning new words, like "Welchman".

Well, the original game was made in spanish, so it had 50 spanish words in a DIM. What I did for the CSSCGC was replaced these spanish words by english ones.To make this, I just found a weird site with a huge list of eight-letters english words (or six, or seven or whatever...). I knew most of them but there was some that I didn't know nor I was interested in knowing their translation!

I made the translation to english in a record time (hence the 'secet' mistake)

I've just checked the dictionary, and "Welch" is actually an alternative spelling of "Welsh", so you're quite correct Juan.

I quite like it as a newly invented word though: "to welch" is slang for renaging on a promise, so it follows that a "Welchman" is an untrustworthy scoundrel. If we all start using it, the word will appear in the OED next year!

Oops, bloody hell yes. Well if it helps my case, hopefully my surname allows me to use it freely

Can our resident lexicographer Rorthron comment on the provenance of the verb "to Welch"?

Oh, it's definitely a common term... I remember hearing it loads as a kid... but has just more recently been considered offensive... especially to those people looking to be offended.

The OED says: "Etymology: Origin uncertain; perhaps < Welsh adj., on account of alleged dishonesty of Welsh people (see note). Earlier currency is probably implied by welsher n.1, welshing n., and welshing adj."

*as an aside, if any Brits have library cards then you might find your local library has subscribed to the OED which allows you to access the dictionary online... It is really interesting looking up the etymology and earliest recorded uses of words! :)

I remember suggesting something similar in games ideas thread some time ago. My dream came true!

Top stuff that doesn't deserve to be in the CSCGC comp!
