The Classic Adventurer

Post by 8BitAG »

Issue 5 of The Classic Adventurer bookazine is now available as a free download or printed softback magazine.

http://classicadventurer.co.uk/

Issue 5 contains interviews with the legendary Scott Adams, Greedy Dwarf author Simon Ainsworth, the dynamic duo behind Redhawk; Simon Price & Mike Lewis, and more.

Previous issues have covered text adventure luminaries such as Trevor Hall, Veronika Megler, Level 9, Trevor Lever & Peter Jones, Charles Cecil, Fergus McNeill, Tim Gilberts, Thomas Christie, Anita Sinclair, John Wilson, and Phil South.

The presentation is top-notch and includes Mark Hardisty's superb recreations of 1980s cover illustrations. Well worth checking out.

Mark has also posted the full interview he did with artist Teoman Irmak here, which discusses the novel way he built up images for the Adventure International UK games, such as Gremlins...

This is quite amazing, thanks for the link. By "final" issue do you mean it's the last one?

The final version of the final issue is now online (and available in printed form) and includes a huge interview with Magnetic Scrolls' Hugh Steers.

Never say never... Mark has just released a brand new "special edition" of the Classic Adventurer...
http://classicadventurer.co.uk/

The contents include interviews with...
Garry Cappuccini, author of ZX Spectrum game Crack City;
the early microcomputing pioneer, Trevor Toms of Ramjam and the ZX80/81 books;
the prolific book author Clive Gifford;
Tony Barber, the man behind cult favourite Valkyrie 17
...and more.

The cover feature is a look at the making of the Lord of the Rings trilogy of adventure games... with comments from the, usually uncredited talent who worked on them.

This is fantastic stuff! I admit this is the first I'm hearing of it, but that's my bad. I wish the fonts were a bit bigger though. My eyes aren't what they used to be.... *sigh*
