Beat 'em up competition

Post by djnzx48 »

Posting this since it doesn't seem to have been mentioned here: 8-Bit Beat 'em up/Fighter Dev Comp 2020

According to the rules, competition entries can be either roaming beat 'em ups or static screen fighters, and the deadline is the 1st of July. Prizes have not been announced other than trophies, and a copy of the winning entry (presumably on physical cassette tape).

It seems quite an interesting competition of a cool genre (and not very common nowadays).

I can't wait for the results!

Nice idea! It will be interesting to see if there'll be an attempt at a 1 on 1 fighter with modern staples like combos, punishments, zoning etc. Could be a real challenge with only one fire button, although there are a handful of really great fighting games on gameboy that only uses 2 buttons, I guess the developer has to get a little creative here.
