ZX Spectrum Next KS #2 Gauge of Interest

Post by Alcoholics Anonymous »

During the long development of the zx next, many people expressed interest in buying one. A promise was made to run a second kickstarter to fund a second run of machines for those who missed out on the first one, but only after the first kickstarter was fulfilled.

As the first kickstarter is approaching fulfillment now, it's time to gauge interest in a second run of machines. The level of interest shown will give an idea of costs and lead time. If you may be interested in participating in a second kickstarter, please visit:

If we're talking about a second kikstarter it means very good news for the first KS backers. The project seems to be succesful.

Very great news for the Spectrum scene.

Well not an end to it as there is a lead time for making them, but part of this is trying to make sure there isn't too crazy pricing on ebay after the machines start arriving at people's homes. People can decide on pricing for themselves with the knowledge that more will be available (or not).

I don't think you can stop the die-hard collectors, who are likely to put a premium on a first-run model if they see that as a enough of differentiator. But anything that redresses the supply/demand balance will help.

Where's the poll though? If I view the link in the first post it has some text saying fill out the poll below... Then nothing. There is no poll. Confusing.

I think the poll doesn't play well with Firefox... try Chrome?

Yup I had that problem, switched to Chrome and it showed up.

The poll does work in firefox but I think it likely some people have paranoid privacy settings that prevent the poll from displaying. The poll page will try to remember you to at least help a bit in reducing duplicate voting.

I use Brave browser (even on my phone) which is a Chrome fork. However it is privacy focused and blocks ads. Maybe the poll is interpreted as an ad then.

The poll worked for me in Firefox with NoScript enabled, but there didn't seem to be an option corresponding to a cased model with no additions (assuming you had to pick one or more options).

Hmm. It's really quite a mess. The Captcha thing doesn't render properly on mobile. Ends up partially off the left of the screen with no way to scroll.
