Nice one. 16K is a good middle ground. More than a minigame, but less daunting than an epic. I think this competition has legs.

Indeed. It is enough for hamurabbi/startrek/whatever simulation or compact adventure written in basic. Also there is enough space for simpler arcade game. Still it has challenges on its own, CPU power goes down to 80%-75% due memory contention, sound and especially music are limited for the same reason and most if not all authoring tools are ruled out as they can't target 16K model.

Yep the sound limitation will be interesting; we'll have to resort to interesting spot effects or even music, rather than plonk an AY track over it all.

And I like this one—it'll force me to do a bit of coding!

Aah...the 16K Spectrum has 8K memory available, plus the screen. Now obviously I remembered that, but it's worth mentioning in case anyone forgot this.

(Drawing board...hello again!)

and you just ruined my plans. there is no way i can fit my scroller and all other code in 8K... or is there?

p.s.: also, what are the rules about some "borrowed" graphics? my idea absolutely requires graphics from another game, because it is a "sidequel" to well-known game.

I'm really sorry I didn't enter Bohumil. It helps nothing here, but I have two unfinished 16K projects that were intended for this.

Patrick Paddle is by far my favourite game so far this year, and I'll be surprised if anything surpasses it. Congrats to PROSM, and massive thanks catmeows for the jam that birthed it.

Indeed, PROSM's PATTRICK PADDLE is really enjoyable title with some spice. I like both of idea and its smooth execution. It has early 80's face and yet it has some novelty in gameplay. And I like the extra steps PROSM did in game design. PATRICK has simple rules but allows player to explore them a little bit. I'm curious what we will be PROSM's next title.

Then save them for the next year if you want :) Itch.io does all heavy lifting about organizing compo so I would like to run 16K Jam compo annually.

i am too really sorry that i didn't managed to finish mine entry in time. (ok, to properly start it in time.) i think i won't try to convert them (there were 1.5 ideas, hence 'them' ;-) to "proper 48k releases", and will wait for the next C16Jam instead. sorry again.

and great thanks to catmeows and PROSM, of course!
