Any clarification on the matter would be much appreciated.R-Tape wrote: ↑Sun Mar 04, 2018 11:42 am It’s short notice but we’d like to have a minigame competition (or full games, demos, art) with the release day being the ZX-Spectrum’s birthday – the 23rd April.
...
It would be nice to have the entries in the archive before the 23rd April, so if you want yours to have its ZXDB entry in time then submit before the ~20th April.
Anything not clear? Did I get the date right? Will people have enough time to contribute?

I'm slightly confused. Do we release our software on the 23rd or before the 23rd? The announcement seems to suggest both.
All software to-date

If I'm expected to make sense were all in trouble!
If you want your game to be logged in ZXDB and appear on SC in time for the 23rd then it needs to be emailed to us roughly a week beforehand so we have time to collate things.
If you want to provide your own download link then making it available yourself on the 23rd is also fine.
Sounds promising either way

Just noticed this today, but shared at Planeta Sinclair and will do the review of the games during the week.

Cheers, just seen your article. It was announced late so there was very little time, so the fact that we have 2 games and a demo is still quite good! I don't know if PaulJ wants to include ROVR?
Just to clarify, if I understand correctly - Einar is offering a real game of football and flight tickets to Sao Paulo, not write a football game.

I was planning something, but then it was clear it would be impossible to complete in time.
So I decided to save the surprise, for later.

Thank you for the entries to the competition. I think the best way to choose a winner is by conducting a poll. I will start one over the weekend. I hope that is OK with everyone.
Re: April 23rd Spectrum Computing minigame/zx stuff competition/thing
Just to add because at least a couple of people weren't sure, Einar will not be buying plane tickets or playing/watching football as a prize. It was a (crap) joke. Apologies!
The real prize is a foot massage off SC founder Peter Jones.

Ah, does he do home visits, or do we travel to his house...or do we meet halfway and go to a Premiere Inn / Travelodge for that personal experience?

Good point Mat,
My understanding is that all expenses are paid, with oxtail soup at Stafford Services Southbound inclusive, and the liason will take place at The Grosvenor Hotel in Blackpool.
To be honest these are details he should have elucidated earlier, do try to be a cut above Peter. Tsk.

“Their oxtail soup is warming and nutritious.”
Every man should plant a tree, build a house, and write a ZX Spectrum game.

Will it be foot massage (singular, one foot only) or both feet? That oxtail soup is the clincher for me, as long as it comes with a buttered roll.

Me thinks R-Tape may have been on the sherry....
I'm working in Kent currently MatGubbins so happy to share a buttered bread roll with you if you get the vote! The roll does have to be brown and seeded though (my shout).
