A prolific name in games, back in the day, due to the joysticks and joystick interfaces they made for the Speccy. Very much known for hardware - they also made a modem at some point.
Anyway, these posts aren't about hardware, of course.
Of the original games published by Protek Computing, I make it these four...
Hunter-Killer
Roadrunner
Spectrapede
Speculator
Have I got it right?

Is Hunter Killer the first submarine sim ever?
Re: The best Speccy game by Protek Computing: discussion
The only other one I can think of is Submarine Strike, although that was released in 1984, a year after Hunter Killer.
I never knew Protek released games until now. I can remember seeing Cheetah Marketing games as well as DK'Tronics and Romantic Robot, but the only time I saw Protek's name was on the control choice screens of games. It shouldn't take me too long to try the above titles.

Protek also published Airliner: https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/1 ... m/Airliner
The entry says it was originally a type in, but I did own the commercial release and I'm not sure if it was enhanced in any way.
The same author, Rod K Hopkins also wrote Hunter Killer which it seems also started off as a type-in called U-Boat Hunt: https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/1 ... -Boat_Hunt
You can also see the other games they published in this advert: https://ia800604.us.archive.org/view_ar ... ller_2.jpg

Hmm, if it was originally a type-in for Your Computer magazine, and then re-released commercially, it makes me wonder if it counts as an original game?toot_toot wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 5:04 am Protek also published Airliner: https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/1 ... m/Airliner

As you referenced, enhancements would be a factor. I'm quite stunned at a type-in getting a later commercial release!
