Whats your favourite magazine type-in game?
I'm going to start you off with Birdy which appeared in Your Computer magazine in 1985. Its a Pengo clone, and plays very well.

No topic on type-ins would be complete without mentioning that legend that is Jim Grimwood who has been collating these titles longer than I care to remember.

Re: Favourite magazine type-in
My favorite type-in is a flight simulator, from Input magazine (1984).
I did some changes, fix a few errors and added the title screen.
It seems that program is not in the ZXDB archive, yet.
Here is the original version in Spectrum basic, as well as version for Boriel basic and compiled version in Boriel compiler:
zx flight.tap

On the subject of Flight Simulators there was Airliner (again published in Your Computer in 1992) and later sold by Proek

Re: Favourite magazine type-in
I'd add two games I mentioned in recent 'Best BASIC game' thread.
And also a cute game based on Inspector Gadget. Some minigames in each level. More funny than the commercial game by Melbourne House

It's good to see titles from Microhobby mentioned. With the help of the OCR enabled PDFs from KenD I have very much been enjoying the magazine. Very different to English language titles.

Pixy the Microdot from Your Sinclair is one that really stands out in my memory - super fun little game, I spent far longer with this than with any other type-in I can recall.
Re: Favourite magazine type-in
Portals of P’thaal or something like that. They ended up putting it on the b-side of a cover tape. Maybe the Cyclone one.

Is this is the one, it was from Sinclair User

That’s the one! Somewhat overshadowed by Cyclone but definitely enjoyable.PeterJ wrote: ↑Sun Nov 19, 2017 10:32 amIs this is the one, it was from Sinclair User
