Alhambra Tales to be released

Post by Juan F. Ramirez »

Great news. Alhambra Tales was a Dinamic production that was never released. It had an amazing (as always) Azpiri artwork.

The guys from elmundodelspectrum.com has announced that his former author, Raúl Ortega, has taken up the project for Spectrum and Amstrad.

In this video (in spanish) we can see the progress:

Seems promising!

Great! I love such news :)

And it looks like it's going to be a quality game. A bit similar to Ghosts'n'Goblins if I may say my first impression.

It is also nice to see people returning to Spectrum (and more generally retrocomputers) after 30 years and finishing what
they didn't finish then.

A year ago the same YT channel published some stuff from the original project. Graphics seem different.

Animation looks good but colour clash is a bit... err... clashy.

At least leave a character square between the red urns and the blue walls so the colours don't clash in the scrolling. And maybe some chunkier horizontal masking could be used on the sprites, as per the Karnov discussion elsewhere..? The blue background turning white is particularly noticeable.

I'm probably in minority but I always had weak spot for the way original Booty game "masked" sprites ;)

I saw that video a while ago and I thought it was a shame. Also taking into account the cover made by the great Azpiri. I am very happy to know that it will finally come to fruition.

The game seems certainly very promising but this colour clash a bit hellish.

On the other hand it was the same in quite a few classic Spanish games. They made their games very colourful but
often just copied the sprite attribute and didn't give a damn what happens. I guess it's some little Spanish tradition :)

on the bright side, it makes these look much better with the ULAX and usually a simplest case for adaptation 8-)
