Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with W: tiebreaker vote
Exploding Fist for me, as in the first thread.
Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with W: tiebreaker vote
These are the two games I struggled to choose between first time round. Again I've gone for WotEF, because it just edges out on longevity.
Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with W: tiebreaker vote
WOTEF for me. Played it loads 'back in the day', but, I've never even touched WTSS.
What if there's a Tie-Break with the Tie-Break?!?!?! Suppose we could base it on the games average Crash/YS/SU Scores?

Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with W: tiebreaker vote
Gone with WOTEF again and, surprise, we're now at 8 each!
As for magazine Overall scores that are in ZXSR:
WTSS
Crash: 94%
Your Sinclair: 9/10
ACE: 719/1000
Sinclair User: 96%
C&VG: 8/10
The Games Machine: 95%
WOTEF
Crash: 92%
Crash (re-review): 72%
Your Spectrum: Not Rated
Your Sinclair: 83%
Sinclair User: 5/5
Sinclair User: 9/10
ACE: Not Rated
Ignoring the Not Rated scores and converting to decimalised values out of 10 we get:
WTSS: (9.4 + 9 + 7.2 + 9.6 + 8 + 9.5) / 6 = 8.8
WOTEF: (9.2 + 7.2 + 8.3 + 10 + 9) / 5 = 8.7
So WTSS just shades it in that regard.
However, disregarding re-reviews of WOTEF (which I think would be unfair as WTSS never had any that I'm aware of):
WOTEF: (9.2 + 10) / 2 = 9.6
Still not a fair comparison IMO.

Including re-reviews seems harsh.
WOTEF gets 9.1 otherwise.

Sorry, I think you edited your post while I was writing mine. Still, I get 9.1, not 9.6 (just stripping out the 72%).

Heads or tails... but I'm afraid the coin will fall sideways this time!
Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with W: tiebreaker vote
Doh! I forgot to flag the (non-Crash) reviews as re-reviews, or, more accurately, not reviews at original time of release. The Your Sinclair 83% and SU 9/10 were much later reviews than Oct 85-ish.

Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with W: tiebreaker vote
11 all! Can anyone break this infernal deadlock?!
Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with W: tiebreaker vote
Well butter my baps WOTEF is now winning by a nose
Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with W: tiebreaker vote
I don't think I can choose between these two.
Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with W: tiebreaker vote
ok then, who got their mate to join the Forum just for the sole purpose of voting for WTSS?
Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with W: tiebreaker vote
I'm not voting as I've only played The Way of the Exploding Fist so it'd be a bit biased!
Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with W: tiebreaker vote
There's no such thing as a winnable war. It's a lie we don't believe anymore.
Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with W: tiebreaker vote
You are Gordon Sumner AIKMFP.
Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with W: tiebreaker vote
If we can't negotiate our way out of this deadlock, then we might have to crash out into a full on William Wobbler victory.
Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with W: tiebreaker vote
I`m invoking article 24, you tube it on politico , safe easy exit , no hassles and Way of the Exploding fist

We're not prepared for this disaster.
Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with W: tiebreaker vote
You do realise that making William Wobbler the winner would mean that everybody would have to play it to bathe in it's majesty?
You'd also have the added responsibility of causing a group and grown men to pull their own eyes out after they've bore witness to the abject horror which is William Wobbler
