Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with W: tiebreaker vote
You guys are making a mound out of a molehill. The solution is really simple: bribe someone who doesn’t give a flying fig about either game to vote in your favor.
Every man should plant a tree, build a house, and write a ZX Spectrum game.

For those who still haven't voted, take into account that there are many celebrities that used to do karate: Bruce Lee, Jean-Claude Van Damne, Chuck Norris, Mr. Miyagi, ... whereas I don't know any celebrity who travelled to a secret valley where time stopped. Do you know anyone?
They're just facts.

This thread will end bad...
Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with W: tiebreaker vote
... So ultimately it's Chuck Norris vs a T-Rex?

I'm also tempted to change my vote, just to break the stalemate but I just can't bring myself to do it. WTSS is impressive but flawed, once you know how to win you can do so easily and skip most of what is in the game. WOTEF is just a better game.
Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with W: tiebreaker vote
+1 from me! If someone wants to do it and record an RZX.
I believe there was a +1 from Morkin too.

Try this program I just wrote.
10 RANDOMIZE 1: IF RND<0.5 THEN PRINT "WTSS": STOP
20 PRINT "WOTEF": STOP
10 RANDOMIZE 1: IF RND<0.5 THEN PRINT "WTSS": STOP
20 PRINT "WOTEF": STOP

That's biased towards WOTEF!

Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with W: tiebreaker vote
Following the logic of this thread, if we execute the program, it will display 'variable not found' or nonsense in basic' definitely!
Let's face it, this thread is cursed!

Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with W: tiebreaker vote
Only slightly, the RANDOMIZE 1 guarantees the first value of RND will be 0.0022735596 every time!
RANDOMIZE 0 would also have a tiny bias wouldn't it?
Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with W: tiebreaker vote
How about this:
10 LET wotef=0: LET wtss=0
20 LET coin=INT (RND*2)
30 IF coin=0 THEN LET wotef=wotef+1
40 IF coin=1 THEN LET wtss=wtss+1
50 PRINT wotef;",";wtss,
60 IF wtss<>0 THEN PRINT wotef/wtss;
70 PRINT: GO TO 20
10 LET wotef=0: LET wtss=0
20 LET coin=INT (RND*2)
30 IF coin=0 THEN LET wotef=wotef+1
40 IF coin=1 THEN LET wtss=wtss+1
50 PRINT wotef;",";wtss,
60 IF wtss<>0 THEN PRINT wotef/wtss;
70 PRINT: GO TO 20

Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with W: tiebreaker vote
Let's make this easier....
your mate has a copy of Mire Mare, it's in two 48k parts, both about 6 minutes per part.
You have original tape versions of Exploding Fist and Time Stood Still, but without the original boxes or inlays (you bought the tapes from John Menzies as they were the bargain bucket because some thieving bast nicked the box from the shelf). Each side of the tape can hold one part of the game. You can't borrow the tape from your mate, you can't record over another tape and you can't bung one part on one side of one tape and the other part on to the other tape. One tape and both sides has to be wiped.
Oh, and MIre Mare is an excellent game!
Which game do you record over?

That's easy.
Over WTSS, because I only had a 48k model.

Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with W: tiebreaker vote
I'd record over both tapes, one to keep and one to sell on eBay in 30 years time...
Then I'd break into my mate's house that night and nick their copy as well
