Quite a few titles worthy of a mention. Zaxxon: Lovely arcade game, but the Speccy port is just a bit lacking. Zolyx: Played this one a fair bit back in the day, simple but fun. Zombi: A real contender, possibly a little ahead of its time as it really could use a mouse and I tend to think of it as a CPC game primarily. Zombie Zombie: Good, but not as much fun as Ant Attack was. Zub: Popular and will probably win, but I just never really got into it. Maybe I missing something but it always just felt a bit dull to me. Zynaps: Good, colourful shooter. A solid effort but a bit on the hard side, which always put me off a bit. A better difficultly curve and this might have been unbeatable. Zythum: Pretty, but ultimately very dull. ZZoom: A fairly simplistic game, but so much fun - particularly if you stop playing sensibly and just shoot up the hostages. The animation on tiny little stick figures is so expressive.
Still not 100% decided on what to vote on. My heart says Zzoom, I played it so much as a kid, but I can't deny if you actually play it properly it's not nearly as good. Zombi might be my second call, but it's interface is just a bit too clunky to be as enjoyable as it could be.
Went for Zynaps. I remember spending many hours playing this little gem BITD and even though it was pretty tough it really had that 'One more go' appeal for me.
Well, I do appreciate Zythum. It has good playability and all right graphics. And I know it gained some kind of cult status on this forum so I feel almost guilty for not voting on it
Another worthy game here is Zzoom, I had quite a lot of fun with it. At first I was shooting at these little people until I learnt that my goal is actually to protect them ;
But my vote goes to Zynaps. It was a groundbreaking game with brilliant engine: smooth scrolling (25 fps), colourful, and actually playable with good difficulty level.
Went for Zub in the end. Close second was Zzoom. Before the list came up I was certain I'd vote for Zynaps but playing it again recently reminded me that although it's technically very good, it's too hard and, for want of a better word, tedious.

It was a lot of fun, I was there 10 years part time in the end up until I graduated, probably the period of time I'm most nostalgic for, especially because indie game stores are virtually non existent now. I keep meaning to write it up like 'Acts of Gord'.
