Every man should plant a tree, build a house, and write a ZX Spectrum game.

Re: Best BASIC game?
Wasn't The Great Space Race written in Basic? It would be far, far down the list of Best Basic Games though

Re: Best BASIC game?
Not actually a released BASIC game as it was a type-in, but none the less, still an excellent game:
Forest of Long Shadows
This was pretty good as well:
Pixy the microdot

Re: Best BASIC game?
Can we include games released in the past 15 years? The Bytemaniacos BASIC competition, for example, had a few games that impressed me when they were released. And wasn't there a game completely written in BASIC that was released just months ago? A good one, that is.

It's Only Rock 'n' Roll by K-Tel. Properly superb. Far better than Rock Star Ate My Hamster.

Are you allowed to vote for your own games?
Re: Best BASIC game?
I think it's shameful. Especially when, as far as BASIC games go, Sixteen Skirmish is much better.

The UDG graphics are loaded separately using LOAD ""CODE. You probably assumed it was Assembly code.
Re: Best BASIC game?
I suspect he was thinking that the graphics were drawn using basic commands, and that the game could have been published as a type-in.
Obviously there's no clear definition of a basic program...

Re: Best BASIC game?
At least I digged out my ZX Microdrive cartridge with the bugfixed version of the type-in, including my own loading screen and a self-created font (provisionally published here). I even found the original letter that came from Computer & Video Games in reply to my bugfix description (and gaming tips...).
