You must follow your heart, it's not for others to influence you. You probably need an extended session of playing Zythum and that will show you the way. Zythum, after all, holds all the answers to these difficult questions.

It certainly feels like that when you first start playing it. Once you get the hang of it though, it becomes obvious the developers never quite managed to expand on many of the ideas in the way they had probably intended and all the different characters and events are largely irrelevant. I think it's one of those games where the concept ended up being too big for the hardware it was targeted at - if it had been a 16-bit exclusive it's possible they could have expanded upon it much further.5MinuteRetro wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2019 9:36 amI remember WTSS being pretty deep, with multiple characters and all -- and of course It's came after The Great Escape. However, it's true that I can't actually remember how to beat the game, so perhaps it's much simpler than I remember. I guess I need to go replay it!

Oh my!!Juan F. Ramirez wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2019 10:50 am The good thing about The Great Escape is there are different ways (different objects to use, etc) to finish the game. This encourages to game again with a diferent strategy once you completed it.
Just realized I posted this!
Why I was talking about The Great Escape when it isn't in the poll?
Today it's been a stressed day... sorry!
Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with W: 2nd tie-breaker vote
Well unlike Juan I've decided to vote for one of the games that's actually in the poll, and gone for Fist.
I liked the game world atmosphere created in WTSS, but I never really got into the actual game that much. Tended to get pushed off cliffs or chomped by dinosaurs a bit much for my liking.

Probably because myself and 5MinuteRetro both mentioned it in comparison to WTSS.Juan F. Ramirez wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2019 10:11 pmOh my!!Juan F. Getting pretty close again.
I'm not sure what effect yet another tie break will have on our wellbeing...

Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with W: 2nd tie-breaker vote
We extend this to Halloween. Problem solved...
But seriously, I have never voted in the W tie-breaker votes. You see, I have played a bit of Where Time Stood Still (my friend was heavily into it, me, not so much, I actually preferred Terramex, which is not far off WTTS, except it's obviously 2D and a bit cartoony). However, I have never played The Way Of The Exploding Fist. This is why I didn't vote.
If voting comes to a 50/50 tie again on Sunday, I'm going to give Way Of The Exploding Fist a go. Actually, I should probably start that now, play for at least an hour so I can form a solid view of it. Then I'll vote and hopefully break the deadlock. And then we restart the # vote, and by Sunday 21st, we will know the complete A-Z(+#) of the best classic Speccy games. And then start the post-commercial-era homebrew A-Z(+#) polls...
It's bizarre to be thinking that WTSS and WOTEF are facing off against each other in a poll, as they're very different games from different genres. It really is apples versus oranges. I know they're both really good though, so maybe I shouldn't be so surprised.

Isn't it the same in all these polls anyway?
Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with W: 2nd tie-breaker vote
Very disappointing if a C64 conversion wins "classic Speccy game" over a title that was Spectrum exclusive at the time of release. All WotEF voters are urged to reconsider!

Fist is a c64 conversion? This ruins my day.

This really should have been left as a tie.

Yes, I think someone might be taking the P?s? here. I'm all for that sort of thing, but not if it makes it go on forever. Anyone yet to vote?

Exploding Fist to me.
Was really impressive for the time it was released and lots of fun in 2 player mode.

Only if you want to program a mash-up game - Where The Exploding Fist Stood Still. It's an isometric adventure where you use martial arts to beat up dinosaurs and cannibals.
Only then will I accept a tie.
