Yeah, I'll give that a nod, although I just wanted to present the cliches of beat 'em ups as a bingo card for comedy value.

A few of them are a little more inspired by arcade/Sega Mega Drive games (like Final Fight and Streets Of Rage), as the Speccy doesn't have that many scrolling beat 'em ups.

I've nothing against the genre - Double Dragon is my favourite arcade game of all time. It's just that I've been playing a lot of them recently to do a video for my forthcoming retrogaming YouTube channel, and discovering the games creators often took cues from movies like The Warriors. Now that's a film which is undeniably the inspiration for Renegade. (I'm close to saying Renegade is a game of The Warriors in all but name.)

I love that underground railway stations are a typical backdrop for these games, and I'm nerdy enough to want to sit down and write a beat 'em up that is actually set on the London Underground, with as many stations as possible in it.

The cliche of these violent subways (also depicted famously in the opening titles of The Equaliser) made me very nervous the first time I set foot on the New York Metro.

Also if you drop a weapon after being hit, it will disappear from view.
