The best Speccy game by Ultimate: vote

Okay, now for one of the toughest (if not THE toughest) choices in these polls. Ultimate - arguably an aptly-named company - made an absolute load of jaw-dropping hits for the Speccy, creating some astonishing punch-above-their-weight titles that could fit into a 16K Speccy, as well as astounding games for the 48K.

Then at some point - maybe during Gunfright or after - the brand was sold to US Gold and things weren't quite as good. Anyway, the Speccy had 16 titles featuring Ultimate logo and we're here to discover which you think is the best. Yeah, a difficult challenge.

Oh, and while we're praising Ultimate, there's an amusing Digitiser article that highlights the rather awful things that have been put out in their name, mostly concentrating on the non-Spectrum stuff (The Staff Of Karnath; Outlaws; Entombed; Imhotep; Blackwych and Dragon Skulle).

Looks quite a close contest between Atic Atac and Jetpac so far.

A few years ago I might have voted for Jetpac, as it's pure arcade class. I guess one criticism voiced over the years is that changing/randomising the platform placement might have increased the variety a bit. And of course a hover button, that'd be ace..

I only remember playing Atic Atac after Sabre Wulf, and it took a while for me to appreciate it fully. 3 playable characters, each with different momentum/inertia. One map but 3 variations of how you can traverse it depending on your character choice. A decent amount of time to react to enemies spawning on top of you (I felt that Sabre Wulf compensated with lots of extra lives dotted around). And finally a 3D map with distinguishable floors which means you don't have to think about a map, you learn your way around after a few goes. The only criticism I really have is that the objects are fairly redundant, with your object carry limit it's all about the keys. But otherwise a game I can keep coming back to, and that you can finish in any time between 5 minutes or 2 hours.

Haha, yeah, it's the same for me too.
Atic Atac was also my own choice, for the exact same reasons that you mention.
