Now, yeah, this is a democratic vote and all that, but I never envisaged THAT happening!

We have an anarchist in this forum! :mrgreen:
Bet it was Spuds as their '3rd place'. :P

Looks quite a close contest between Atic Atac and Jetpac so far.

A few years ago I might have voted for Jetpac, as it's pure arcade class. I guess one criticism voiced over the years is that changing/randomising the platform placement might have increased the variety a bit. And of course a hover button, that'd be ace.. ;)

I only remember playing Atic Atac after Sabre Wulf, and it took a while for me to appreciate it fully. 3 playable characters, each with different momentum/inertia. One map but 3 variations of how you can traverse it depending on your character choice. A decent amount of time to react to enemies spawning on top of you (I felt that Sabre Wulf compensated with lots of extra lives dotted around). And finally a 3D map with distinguishable floors which means you don't have to think about a map, you learn your way around after a few goes. The only criticism I really have is that the objects are fairly redundant, with your object carry limit it's all about the keys. But otherwise a game I can keep coming back to, and that you can finish in any time between 5 minutes or 2 hours. 8-)

Haha, yeah, it's the same for me too.
Atic Atac was also my own choice, for the exact same reasons that you mention.

I'm pretty sure that winking smiley of ihs means "I know there is a hover button, but people always wish there was one, without knowing it's already there" ;)

Undoubtedly Knight Lore, even for its playability.

Second place: Pssst

Yeah, couldn't resist... :lol:

It's been mentioned quite a few times over the years in various Speccy discussions and each time there's been someone who's surprised by it (including me...)

What impressed me a lot about Atic Atac was when I watched a walkthrough of it on YouTube, it was only two or three minutes long!!!

I've been always wandering around with no much success, supposing it had to be solved in much more time...

Yeah many games can actually be finished in just a few minutes, I'm always shocked when I see the videos.

That happened to me in particular with Sir Fred, I feel like I spent hours and hours there without ever getting close to the end and then I see a video and it's like 7 minutes long in total.

Jetpac
Atic Atac
Knight Lore

I don't care really, all 3 are deserved.
I don't have anything cool to put here, so i'll just be off now to see a priest with yeast stuck between his teeth and his friend called Keith who's a hairpiece thief...

Pheee-ew. Quite possibly the most difficult software house to vote in as this brand put out so many 'absolute bangers' (to use dance music parlance).

It's been highly competitive, but you weren't expecting anything else, were you? Quite a few games have been in the lead over the past week. At some points, we had three equally in the top spot. This could have ended in a tie-break, but thankfully it didn't.

And the other astonishing things from this poll, is that SOME PEOPLE ACTUALLY VOTED FOR BUBBLER AND MARTIANOIDS. Yes. That deserves repeating. SOME PEOPLE ACTUALLY VOTED FOR BUBBLER AND MARTIANOIDS. I still can't get over that.

From the forum's FPTP poll, Atic Atac narrowly clinches it as the winner, with 11 votes.

In a very close second place, Knight Lore is there with 10 votes.

As close as you get, third place is JetPac with 9 votes.

Then in fourth, we have Sabre Wulf with 6 votes.

Pssst has the fifth place, with 2 votes.

Joint sixth, carrying 1 vote each: Bubbler; Lunar Jetman; Martianoids and Nightshade.

Over to the proportional voting results, and it's slightly different...

26 JetPac
25 Atic Atac
21 Knight Lore
13 Sabre Wulf
7 Pssst
3= Gunfright
3= Lunar Jetman
3= Underwurlde

Atic Atac, a fair winner, as everybody loves it, isn't it?

Hmm, the constant respawning of annoying minor baddies on every screen. To me, it's just mandatory 'fly swatting', which really puts me off the game.

I said it in another thread, and I'll say it again here:

BUBBLER IS ACTUALLY A PRETTY DECENT GAME.

:-)

And I'll add: it's probably the best Ultimate game published after Alien 8.
