Re: Complete release list
Basically, I have seen someone's rom list of games. But there's so much crap in there it's ridiculous. I want to see a list of only games that were officially released in the U.K. as standalone titles. No cover tapes, no self coded, nothing foreign, not multiple listings of the same thing. I want to refine his list using this to only offer things that I could have realistically played when I was a kid. I can then go through this, fire them up and find the ones I knew and make a new favourites list to enjoy them all over again.
Screenshots would be good too as would be able to recognise things without having to play them, but not a deal breaker.

I've got a feeling it may have been more towards sci-fi rather than fantasy. It's possible you could have been a little ship flying around rather than a person walking.
Re: Complete release list
Interesting criteria, especially considering how blurred the lines between "homebrew" and "commercial" titles were, especially in the early days.Theretrochief wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 9:58 am I'm looking for a complete list of official, published games that were available in the U.K. I'm not interested in home brews, magazine games or anything released the spectrum was no longer officially supported
"No self-coded" made me grin too.

Re: Complete release list
Fair point, but I guess I'd have only been able to have things that enjoyed full releases through publishers/software houses rather than entirely self published/small scale releases. I also can't imagine it would have been super early. I would guess mid-80s onwards and pre-90s8BitAG wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 2:56 pmInteresting criteria, especially considering how blurred the lines between "homebrew" and "commercial" titles were, especially in the early days.Theretrochief wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 9:58 am I'm looking for a complete list of official, published games that were available in the U.K. I'm not interested in home brews, magazine games or anything released the spectrum was no longer officially supported

We're getting close with Tantalus. But not quite. I think there were distinct zones with different style sceneryJuan F. Ramirez wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 3:02 pm Hi, @Theretrochief , maybe one of these is the one you're looking for?

No to the last couple. Graphics were more adventurous/had greater detail than that.
Keep them coming though, finding some long-forgotten titles I'd played is great!!

Terminus which I think was the sequel to Tantalus
Cybernoid
Doomskulle. I know you said it wasn't a covertape game but it has that Sabre Wulf look.

Re: Complete release list
If you just want a spreadsheet I can do that for you from the database that Einar Saukas created which powers this site and others.

Re: Complete release list
If Cruelman was dead, we'd hear him spinning in his grave.
They've missed out the all important "by" Mirrosoft too. A travesty.
Re: Complete release list
Good call. Got to be Doomskulle. I'll wager a tenner. Back of the net.

Seriously man, get it downloaded now! Probably the best Spectrum game ever (apart from Zythum by Mirrorsoft of course).

Re: Complete release list
My advice, @retrochief, is go to this web's main page, use the advanced search (searching by genre or company) and enjoy!
You can even use a 'random title' option!
