Difficult to get that top 3, there are some good games in that list that I played quite a lot. Really enjoyed Thundercats but it couldn't quite sneak into the scoring positions.

Bomb Jack is such a polished game. Absolute perfection.

At the time I thought Space Harrier, but it was a bit too ambitious for the Speccy.
Kokotoni Wilf was a very well-balanced and playable game. Maybe overshadowed a bit at the time by JSW but well up there as the best of the platform / maze / collect-em-up genre.
But it has to go to Commando for taking an arcade conversion and making a better game of it than the original. Something I tried to do myself!

Went for Commando in the end, but it was a gnat's hair between that and Bombjack. Both are so playable AND improve on the arcade versions - they're both just astonishing conversions.

Again, it was a gnat's hair between GNG and Roller Coaster, but I wen't for GNG simply because it was an incredibly playable conversion of a vastly more powerful coin-op. How Burkhill got it to fit into 48K is amazing and that full-screen scrolling is just lovely.

For me Commando was just ahead of Paper Boy, very close. Thinking about it, I have a hankering to have a go now. The other game I really thought about was 1942, so that completes my top 3.

I know Bombjack was pretty slick, but (a) I never really got into the arcade game - I thought its enemy sprites were paticularly badly drawn. And (b) the emphasis on getting the background graphics looking so good on the Spectrum made the sprites even harder to make out.

You’s people are alls crazy. Commando is rubbish compared to Ikari Warriors.

Thundercats would have been a contender also if I didn't lose a life every few seconds.

Of course, this is largely a battle between Commando and Bomb Jack - I'd have picked one of those if Buggy Boy didn't exist. They are both so incredibly good. Ghosts N Goblins also astonishing.

I voted for Buggy Boy too!

It was a brilliant game, got lots of fun out of it. I’d also agree that Bomb Jack and Commando are up there too, although I always had a soft spot for Bomb Jack II (which was definitely originally a Thundercats game, check out the C64 version and listen to the in-game music as well as the sprite looking more like Lion-O than Bomb Jack!

Kokotoni Wilf with Bombjack a close 2nd!

For many, this was the Bomb Jack vs Commando poll. It's been a huge slug-out between these two arcade classics, and you have to admit, Elite did a damned fine job on the conversions.

However, Commando confidently wins, with 16 votes, compared to second-placed Bomb Jack, with 9 votes.

Mopping up the rest? 4 votes gets you a joint 3rd place: Frank Bruno's Boxing, Ikari Warriors and Kokotoni Wilf.

2 votes each for joint 4th place: Buggy Boy and Ghosts 'N Goblins.

Finally, 1 vote each for joint 5th place: 1942, Roller Coaster, Scooby-Doo and Thundercats.

(Duet is eliminated because, as [mention]Joefish[/mention] pointed out, it was on two polls, and clearly belongs on the Hit-Pak poll.)

On the proportional vote, things are pretty similar at the top...
