Got to be The Hobbit for me as I was blown away by it plus it was a game that we all used to play as a family.
1 - The Hobbit
2 - WOTEF
3 - Penetrator
All 3 are just superb games.

Very difficult, lots of nice games here and - possibly more pertinently - lots of games that I played a lot back in the 1980s, which always colours my votes on these things. I'm going to go for:
1. Starion
2. Way Of The Exploding Fist
3. Hampstead
Could easily have had Gyroscope, Sherlock, Penetrator and a few others in there, though.

1 :: The Way of the Exploding Fist
2 :: Xenon
3 :: Starion
Xenon is a very enjoyable shoot'em up with some excellent 128K music.
I modified the multiload code to work for Disciple which certainly enhances the experience.

Dead right - same top 3 for me but in this order:
1. The Hobbit
2. Penetrator
3. WOTEF
I wasn't able to finish The Hobbit without hints (I suspect like most people) but there was something compulsive about it, it was only much later that I understood the concept of how the program worked, quite a way ahead of its successors, which allowed for some bizarre and entertaining activities by the other characters. Looking back I'd say the graphics could have been (and were!) improved, but it didn't really matter to me at the time - just having graphics was cool.
I reckon Penetrator must be my favourite scramble game on the Speccy, and once again it's those small touches that you might not expect in such an early scramble game, like the radar effect on the missiles' trajectory, the fireworks , and leaving the author's level editor tool as part of the game was a stroke of genius.
WOTEF for me was one of the the best early beat 'em ups on the Speccy, and set a decent standard for the ones that followed. I really liked Fist II as well.
Interesting to see fans of Starion, I thought it was pretty good to see those wireframe graphics moving so quickly... But it was so big..! I think once I estimated how long it'd take to collect all the letters from all the zones and worked it out as over a day..(!)

Well, this really has been a battle between Way Of The Exploding Fist and The Hobbit. And by looking at the forum poll results, it appears to be a draw between the two, both grabbing the top spot with 10 votes each.
Hmm... do I go to a tie-breaker poll? I have a better solution, but first, let's check the rest...
Starion is in a distant second place with 3 votes.
Penetrator is fourth with 2 votes.
In joint fifth place, with 1 vote each: Barbarian (not that one); Fist II; Freeway Frog; Gyroscope; Hampstead; Kings And Queens; Kwah!; Lord Of The Rings; Marble Madness Deluxe Edition; Sir Lancelot and Xenon.
Now, there's no need to do the tie-breaker because we can see a strong outright winner in the proportional votes...
Way Of The Exploding Fist, The 25
Hobbit, The 16
Penetrator 8
Hampstead 7
Starion 7
Mystery Of Arkham Manor, The 5
Gyroscope 3
Redhawk 2
Street Hassle 2
Xenon 2
Sir Lancelot 1
Anyway, got to say that I'm taking a break for a week, as I've really got to finish making my Reheated Pixels review video on Double Dragon.
I'll start with some poll discussion threads next Sunday.

Well, a tie-breaker poll Exploding Fist vs The Hobbit seems cool!

Missed this one!
I would've voted for Street Hassle. Such a funny game!
