Miscellaneous game questions...
Re: Miscellaneous game questions...
By the way people, how do you understand the title "Renegade"?
From dictionary:
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/renegade
1 : a deserter from one faith, cause, or allegiance to another
2 : an individual who rejects lawful or conventional behavior
Is it definition 1 or 2 here?
Is he some "traitor" who left his gangster's life and started beating his former friends?
Or is he an outlaw who rejects social norms?

Yes.
Every man should plant a tree, build a house, and write a ZX Spectrum game.

yerzmyey would be the man to ask, but I don't think he's been here for a while. The catchy AY on More Tea Vicar is a cover of something apparently. If I once knew — I've forgotten. Does anyone know what it's a cover of?

Ah thanks! It took me a while to make sense of this.Stefan wrote: ↑Fri Oct 04, 2019 9:33 pmFrom http://www.speccy.pl/forum/index.php?topic=435.0R-Tape wrote: ↑Fri Oct 04, 2019 8:55 pm @yerzmyey would be the man to ask, but I don't think he's been here for a while. Dragon's Legend is a song recorded by an Italian band called Koto, and released in 1988. It contains samples from Dragon's Lair, a Speccy game that never made it to the arcades (ahem).
When MTV was released I remember someone comparing it to a god-awful remix of "I like to move it". For ages I wondered if it was that!
I love this track—Yerz's version is better than the original IMO. It sort of gets me dancing every time I play MTV, though it pains me to say that this guy in a tin can suit has better moves than me.
Re: Miscellaneous game questions...
Thanks. I see what you mean (at first I thought you were referring to references made in Dragon's Legend song itself).djnzx48 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2019 5:07 am 0:00 - 1:48 is from Visitors
1:48 - 2:49 is from Time
2:49 - 5:24 is from Dragon's Legend.
So it's compound cover! Maybe it's just hindsight, but it does make sense — even to a non-musician there are at least two distinct moods there. The early bits of Dragon's Lair and Time in general (Yerz's version, faster, catchier) are the bits make me want to throw shapes the most.
Quite like Koto. Kraftwerk, but a bit more crazy.

Does the little corpse collecting, head booting lizard guy in Barbarian have a name?

He's a minion of Drax, there must be something at the top of the contract.

Hmm. Hadn’t thought of that. Could it be . . . Laurence?

Whatever name he has, it's a hard job... badly paid, probably
Re: Miscellaneous game questions...
Well, in Barbarian the main hero actually has no name. We have Drax, princess Mariana but the barbarian is actually called Barbarian. He's an unknown warrior coming from the north.
Well, I suppose they couldn't use the name Conan

In the c64 version he laughs heartily before dragging the body away, so he seems to enjoy himself at least.Juan F. Ramirez wrote: ↑Mon Aug 10, 2020 8:31 am Whatever name he has, it's a hard job... badly paid, probably
The US release called the warrior Gorth, wouldn't say it's canon though.
