Invasion of the zombie monters for me, definitely.

Voted for In Nihilum Reverteris.

It reminded me of some of the modern story-based games you see written by indie devs. But for the Speccy. :) Nice soundtrack too, as you'd expect given the authors. Really enjoyed it.

1. In Nihilum Reverteris
2. Invasion of the Zombie Monsters (fantastic horizonal scrolly arcader)
3. Intergalactic Space Rescue (extremely simple but enjoyable game, 16k too)

1 - Invasion of the Zombie Monsters. Brilliant scrolling shooter, it's got bosses, a storyline and everything. We don't see many games like this these days.
2 - Izzy Wizzy. It's not your average flip-screener, there's a lot to this: magic spells, bombs, and a bit of gambling. I've only played it on real hardware, and I remember being especially struck by how smooth the big sprites were.
3 - In Nihilum Reverteris. As Morkin says, it's unusual to see such modern indie games on the speccy. There was even discussion of a new genre or sub-genre in ZXDB at the time.

I nearly swapped 1 & 2 at the last minute. Close.

Other stand outs are:

In the walls of Eryx. Great graphics, atmosphere and AGD mastery from The Lone Magpie.
The Infeasible Game. Great fun to play, and yep — addictive and frustrating!
Intergalactic Space Rescue. Simple, fun 16K game. This author came out with quite a few interesting and fresh games.

I'd like to apologise for missing the in-game screen for Invasion Of The Zombie Monsters. I can't edit the initial post any more, so here it is...

...mind you, my clumsy omission of that image, certainly has not affected the game's standing in the poll!

Didn't notice, and indeed, my vote wasn't affected. Hope it's cool, I just dived in and changed it.

Going to have to be The Incredible Shrinking Professor as that’s the only one I’ve played. Looking at the list though there seems to be some pretty good games that I should try.

I like the graphics of Incredible Shrinking Professor, but the gameplay is unbalanced - there are some way too difficult bits quite early on.
I need to give some of the others on this list a try as I've hardly played any of them!
